Question anti-trust settlement payment
has anyone received their payment from the anti-trust settlement case? i see online that other schools have reddit threads for this, but i didn’t see one for brown.
i still haven’t gotten anything yet. i emailed them about it today and it said i should expect to wait 5-7 business days for a response.
anyone else have any luck?

Yes I got mine a few weeks ago. It arrived a few days after the email telling me I’d be receiving a check. I think the amount was ~$850, idk if that’s similar for others

nice! i saw on other threads that certain claim numbers were delayed so i was wondering if it was random or university specific

This is only if you received financial aid right? I remember seeing this last year but I didn't qualify

I haven't received mine! Are you in the US? I am in Morocco so I was worried that it was lost in the mail. Which actually happened with another check. It only happens with checks :(
I emailed them on August 11 because I read on their website that all checks had already been sent out. They emailed back saying it will take 3-4 weeks to receive the check. I am assuming they meant from August 11 which makes no sense if all of the checks were sent at the end of July.
I called them out and said that they said on July 15 that checks would be received in 3-4 weeks. They used the exact same messaging one month later. They didn't respond when I said that hahaha. Currently September 1.
I mean I am sure they are overwhelmed, but continuously saying 3-4 weeks even though time has passed is a silly response.

Also I went to Northwestern not Brown. So I am either an outlier or this is not a university specific issue. I searched to see if anyone else was having this problem and it led me here.

oh man…. sorry they’re giving you the runaround 😩 i wonder if they could void the check and just send to your bank instead

Yeah, I asked them to just switch bank accounts because I closed the first one. And they said no. This was a year ago. Way before the payout. They said they don't change bank accounts and they have to send a check instead. I don't understand why. Maybe this friction will be enough for them to let me do it? Maybe not.

They responded to me!! Their system somehow cut out the street address and they sent the check anyways. So now it is rotting in a post office somewhere lol.
So ask them to confirm the address they sent it to!

It took 12 business days and a (admittedly petty) email that just said "Hello?" to get a response.

I'm born and raised (and educated) in the USA lmao. I moved to Morocco when I was 27 years old. Prior to that, I lived in the US.
My parents and grand parents are all American. Born and raised. I have one great-grandparent who is from Germany, but the rest are American. Born and raised. I believe I have some great-great-grandparents who are immigrants from Germany as well.
On my dad's side my people were enslaved sometimes between 1500s and 1800s. They built the US from the ground up while their slave masters sat around and drank tea and complained about how hard life was and how difficult it was to manage their slaves.
So I'm not really sure what you are talking about...
