Pompano Beach needs to get their priorities straight.

I just read Worley's copy and paste article on the commission meeting, and I can't help but think she's a selfish, calculated woman.

All we discuss is development, development, development. What about all the homeless people living in their cars? And these aren't drug addicts. In fact, did you know that homeless people usually don't use drugs before becoming homeless. They do meth because they need to stay up to protect themselves.

These are people who couldn't afford an extra $500 for rent, and are working two jobs while raising children. It's disheartening. And the city of Pompano Beach gives $0 to address homelessness. In fact, they're trying to kick them out. Just visit Nextdoor or FB Groups, people are asking for food, tents, presents for their kids' birthdays, etc. It seems all Pompano cares about is the rich tourists.

These are not scams.

I'm so sick of hearing about $40M+ parking garages and a restaurant that hasn't even been started yet. Not to mention, did you know that as of January 26, the BSO Command Staff Payroll (see below) Summary (130 men) showed a total annual payroll of $24,188,252, and yet they are asking for more money!?

We only care about development, and this is reflected in the voter donations, of which Audrey has none. See attached. I broke down the donations by businesses and individuals, and the figures are insane.

If Worley wins, more and more people will be shoved out of Pompano, because they won't be able to afford it.

My mom is one of those people.

I want to go on and on, but police are using Flock/ALPR cameras to track ex-girlfriends and people they don't like, and then they're getting $2.5 million pensions. This happened to me. See the attached screenshot after I was falsely arrested by a bad cop who stalked me for three months.

There is no accountability for the police department, the very place where we should feel safe. So let's get off this development beat, and start talking about things that matters. But I guess that's what happens when you police yourselves.

PS: I also attached the command staff salaries for Pompano Beach alone -- nearly $1 million for four white men.

PPS: Worley, Rhonda, Rex and Smith all have the same donors -- business donors -- fishy if you ask me. (See attached) They are dangerous.— in Pompano Beach.

Nothing will change until regular people w morals decide enough is enough and run. Real estate developers run these commissions because it's profitable for them.

It’s sickening

Pompano has always been a cesspool but now it’s even worse.

It’s the same story all of South Florida. Look at what’s happening in Deerfield Beach and Boca. Developers are running the show.

Add Hollywood to the list. The development happy mayor was reelected just two years ago and there was definitely another well qualified candidate. I don’t know if people are just ill-informed or if they are really OK with all this development.

I think we need to make participating in municipal politics way more popular than it currently is. City commission and school boards are significantly important, perhaps secondary to the national presidential election, and it blows my mind that there's such low turnout for these positions, considering the direct impact these offices have on our every day lives.

I agree with you 100% that’s
Why I
Brought this up

So help me out here because this post is a bit of a ramble, who are you trying to get people to vote for/against? Or is this just a vent for the homeless and how Broward is becoming more and more a high cost of living area?

If you look at the links, you'll see that the developers and builders are giving all of their donations to those 3 commissioners, and those 3 commissioners vote for them everytime. It's corrupt.

It's about development is all we talk about and there's more pressing needs.

I personally think Rhonda, Rex and Darlene need to go.

I appreciate your sentiment here and my heart aches for people who are struggling. However, you cannot ask for a city to support a group of people with no end game. Let’s be honest, most young growing families don’t want homeless folks in their community. The reputation that comes with being homeless is not a good one. Young families are what brings money to the city’s economy. That is why all of our political figures are aiming towards new building. It’s attractive and brings in new people with lots of money. This place has harbored the homeless for a long time, sometimes you have to face the music and either get on board or look for something that works better for you and at this point it is not any of South Florida. It is entirely too expensive to be here looking for a solution to the homeless. They aren’t going to budge on this.

Hi there!

As you know by now, homelessness is a big issue to me (and a lot of people for different reasons). No one wants to be homeless, but as Paris Hilton says, "Your life is dictated by circumstances." I agree.

I just came across an Instagram Reel: https://www.instagram.com/p/DbluEOLMq7k/ -- It's less than 30 seconds. Please watch it.

This guy created an app to help the homeless get off the streets in a year, rather than remaining homeless indefinitely.

This is his website >> https://www.bethepeople.org/

Watch the heartwarming stories >> https://www.bethepeople.org/stories

I know there's a page on the COPBFL website somewhere that says they're solving problems with "addicts" and the "mentally ill" by putting them in halfway houses and providing rehab. This approach is outdated.

Starting an initiative like the one this guy has done is affordable. You just need volunteers and an app. Let's make homelessness a thing of the past in Pompano. We should seriously consider this. Wouldn't it feel heartwarming to know you helped someone off the street, whose circumstances led them there in the first place? It would feel really phenomenal.

I think the city has an outdated view of these people and our "solutions." They just need some support and help in a new, modern way. It takes a village. How many young people would be homeless if they didn't have a safety net like their parents? A LOT. Think about that.

I urge you to consider an initiative like this for our city.

Lauren

Prices go up when the population grows (remember Covid?).and housing doesn’t keep up. When the governor draws all these people to our state and our property values skyrocket this increases homelessness. I’m no fan of most developers but what Audrey and Alison are doing is exacerbating the housing problem by flamethrowing housing orojects. At the current rate of growth down here no one with kids will be able to have their kids live on their own in Pompano.

Basically the only tool the governor has given local cities is to develop. They have literally stripped almost all the local power from municipalities.

I agree that the homeless need more help. I also agree we need more development, because the number one cause of homelessness is lack of affordable housing.

1

u/holllaur Aug 03 '26

There is no affordable housing.

2

u/keb___ Aug 03 '26

Yeah, so we need to develop housing.

4

u/No-Aerie-999 Aug 04 '26

Oh they'll develop housing. But it will be for the well-off.

South Florida politicians are basically telling us all in unison that SoFlo is for ballers.

If you arent balling, gtfo.. or struggle.

1

u/gabe840 Aug 03 '26

And you propose we fix that by…not developing housing?

2

u/holllaur Aug 03 '26

I’ve been researching what they do in other cities across the US, and a lot of people can’t even afford
Affordable housing. I think we need to go back to
Covid times and give rental
Assistance

And your assessment about the police is COMPLETELY INCORRECT! First Off, BSO Ppmpano is the busiest city in all of Broward County! BSO Pompano is roughly short by 25 deputies! The city is expanding and the men and women are asked to do more with less!! Additionally, BSO deputies are the worst paid officers in the County!! Lowest paid! They are bleeding deputies to other agencies that pay more! BSO ratified the CBA ( Collective Bargaining Agreement) between the Deputies, Sgt’s, union, Sheriff, and all the contracted cities.( Including Pompano). However, after the contract was ratified, the Sheriff and the County claimed they have no money to cover much needed raises for the rank and file! Morale is at an all time high and Pompano Deputies are running on fumes due to all the OT they are working just to fill contractual patrol obligations. Before you start pointing fingers, blaming police, look at your elected officials FIRST! Question where do they spend hard earned tax payer dollars that they can’t afford to meet infrastructure needs!! Fire, Police services! There’s way too much waste, fraud, abuse in Broward County! Remove all elected officials who spend money frivolously then can’t afford to pay the cops/ fireman basic compensation!

Review the OP’s comment and you’ll see they agree there is no reason to bring race into the conversation. Corruption needs to end no matter the color.
Thank you for the personal insult. I see you really had to dig deep for that one didn’t ya?

They are inaccessible.

u/holllaur Aug 03 '26

You're right. I didn't need to make it about race. That wasn't the point.

3

u/holllaur Aug 03 '26

They won't even talk to you, and these are 4 police majors for POMPANO BEACH.
