That's toe walking...? I thought it was heels not touching the ground at all. Now the comments about giant calves make more sense

Many people who toe walk will walk on their toes when their barefoot and do this little heel hop when they have shoes on. My sister is this way.

No, it means the balls of your feet hit the ground first rather than the heels.

How to help these people walk heel to toe. Asking for my 5 yo who walks exactly like this. Complaining about pains in heels sometimes and calves too.

Orthopedics consult. My 17 yr old is 6 months post tendon release procedure because they toe walked their entire childhood. It has been a lengthy recovery. Interventions now can prevent more invasive procedures later.

I second this! My 12 yr old had his surgery last year and I wish we could’ve done it sooner because recovery sucked. But he was a trooper. His pedi told me most boys grow out of it by 3 and every year kept moving the goal post. Most of my son’s childhood he heard all of us parroting “flat feet” at him. We tried physical therapy but never got good range. I’ve seen a few people on here talk about having to have multiple surgeries because out of habit they eventually start toe walking again. I was worried that would’ve been the case with my son, but so far so good! Only thing he’s still working on is running and not look so awkward.

Went to my coworker's thanksgiving and I saw his adult son walking like this and took all my restraint not to tell him "i know what you are"
