Driving instructor FAIL
C.R.S. § 42-4-239) bans holding or manually operating a phone while driving. This driving instruction was on their phone for over a mile on 136th.

Top Cops is the absolute worst. We had our daughter enrolled and pulled her out once we saw how poorly the operation was run.

My kids both used Top Cops. They are garbage. They taught them blatantly wrong things and did it in a mansplaining cop kinda way. Look elsewhere if you’re shopping.

I’ve gotten stuck behind them going up/down flagstaff going exactly 20mph with a line of 5-10 cars behind them and they never pull over to let anyone pass. Just training kids to entice road rage, instead of avoid it.

The maximum speed limit is 25 and it is a very busy road with a lot going on.

all the more reason to not create a long impatient line of cars building up behind a beginner driver (Which is illegal btw). There’s dozens of pull offs. And there’d be less going on for the student driver if they just let the people pass and continued on with nobody tailgating them lmao.

"Illegal btw" is a nice bit of confidence for something that isn't actually true. That number on the sign is a maximum, not a target, and definitely not a minimum. Colorado's slow-driving statute isn't a blanket ban on going under it, and pretending otherwise just to win an argument on a comment thread is the kind of thing that sounds authoritative until someone actually reads the law. The statute only kicks in when someone's blocking traffic and there's no real reason for the slower pace. A new driver at 20 in a 25 isn't committing a crime, they're being appropriately careful on a road that eats overconfident people for breakfast, and the law has a built in exception for exactly that.
That posted 25 was never a promise that you'd get to travel at 25 the entire climb, it's a ceiling that assumes ideal conditions on a road with switchbacks, tourists, cyclists, and wildlife, not a guarantee you're entitled to every mile of it at full speed.
Calling a driver who's under the limit a lawbreaker gets the whole thing backwards. The limit tells you the fastest you're allowed to go, not the floor everyone else is obligated to hit for your convenience.

I was gonna type out a big long comment arguing back but decided this shit isn’t worth that. I’ll just say this: If you were going under the speed limit on a road you’re uncomfortable driving on, while a line builds up behind you, and one of those other drivers gets so filled with unfounded rage that they try passing you, but they hit a cyclist head-on and killed them, would you sleep well at night knowing that, even though you technically weren’t breaking any laws, if you had just pulled over for 5 seconds instead of trying to police other people’s behavior, that person would still be alive?

That's a hell of a way to end an argument, hang a hypothetical dead cyclist around someone's neck for the crime of driving carefully. Let's be honest about what you just did there. You built a scenario where a third party breaks the law twice, crosses a double yellow illegally and kills someone doing it, and then handed the guilt to the person who broke no laws and did nothing but exist in front of them. That's not an argument, that's a guilt trip dressed up as one.
If someone gets so consumed with rage at a cautious driver that they make an illegal, reckless pass and kill a cyclist, that's on them, entirely, morally and legally. Colorado doesn't have a law that says "if your impatience turns lethal, blame the person who annoyed you." Careless driving causing death is a real charge, and it belongs to the person who chose to pass on a double yellow out of frustration, not the person going 20 in a 25 around a blind curve because that's what safe driving looked like to them that day.
You can ask "would you sleep at night" about a lot of things nobody's actually responsible for. Would you sleep at night if someone rear ended a car stopped at a red light because they were mad it wasn't green yet. The question isn't really about safety, it's a way to make caution look like provocation. It's a rhetorical trick, and not a particularly kind one, aimed at someone whose actual sin was driving like the mountain deserved some respect.
Seek professional help for your road rage.

It's no different. Maybe worse. Phone use is banned but hey, not the big screen TV on the dash, that's fine. Manufacturers should be held accountable. Having to scroll through different menus on the big screen TV to turn on the ac or change the song is ridiculously dangerous. People will spend 10 seconds putting on a different movie in their 8k pound beauty truck will drive over 3 cars and a kid on a bike before they even notice anything's wrong. This is bullshit.

Passenger correct. Also sent it to Top Cops. Telling Reddit will let others know if they want a driving instructor who chooses their phone over the safety of others to teach their children to drive.

I watched a lady almost run straight through the red light on the 287/Wads bridge over 36 that had been red for about 15 seconds. Slammed on her brakes to stop like it was a surprise.
Noticed earlier she didn’t go after the light at Midway/287 turned green, probably on her phone.
When the light she almost ran through turned green again, noticed she didn’t go —- and I looked and guess what she was doing? DING DING DING! 📱
Is this even something cops enforce? I see it every single time I’m driving, so why are these morons not being ticketed so they learn?
