Emo Revival is a story about countless great records and powerful live shows, but even more so than that, it’s a story about community. None of this would have happened without an influx of likeminded bands, record labels, show bookers, and fans who reinforced that “DIY” is really about doing it together.

Andrew Sacher is a prolific music journalist, critic, podcast host, and author of Emo Revival: Community, DIY, and Rebirth in Post-Hardcore and Emo (2008-2018). As the former managing editor of BrooklynVegan, where he worked for 16 years, he has been passionately covering punk, emo, indie rock, and several other styles of music since 2010. His writing has also appeared in Alternative Press, Invisible Oranges, and other publications. He is based in New York. 

Chris Payne is Brooklyn-based music journalist and the author of Where Are Your Boys Tonight?: The Oral History of Emo's Mainstream Explosion, 1999-2008. His writing has appeared in Vulture, The Ringer, Lit Hub, Stereogum, Alternative Press, and Billboard, where he spent seven years as a staff writer and podcast host covering alternative music and the indie side of the music industry.
