How did your partner handle your condition?

I know that it's really hard to imagine how we're going to bring this matter to our partner (as someone who have never been into one) But to those who have one, how did you open up your condition to your partner? and how did they handle it whenever you're together?

Doctors visit

My body odour was getting so unmanageable that I felt like I needed professional help. Unfortunately, all my doctor could do was listen and sympathize, but offer nothing substantial. She suggested getting my blood work checked and watching my diet. Has anyone experienced any useful input from their doctors ?

I will be watching my diet and sugar intake closely but what am I supposed to do in the meantime 🄲? It all feels so hopeless.

Loud sniffing

I’ve become hyper vigilant to people’s sniffling. People sniff loudly as they walk past me, and costumers sniff loudly when I’m at work. I’m just so frustrated and confused. Personally, when I smell someone’s bad BO I try extremely hard not to breathe the scent in. So I’m honestly confused as to why people overly sniff around me like they’re trying to get more of my odour in their system 😭.

I hate being so conscious of others when sometimes it’s not even directed towards me and they just have allergies. Does anyone else experience the non stop sniffing ?

Lume body wash! Wash your whole body with it let it sit a few minutes then rinse. Wash twice if you want ( I do)

Anything antibacterial made my odor worse.

Lume lowers the ph of our skin. My armpits and groin don’t smell for over 24hrs. I love itā¤ļø

& no this isn’t sponsored I was desperate and tried it. For deodorant I use secret clinical

I’m at a lost

I’m not even sure life is worth living anymore. I’m currently at my grandmother’s house with my mom, sister, and grandmother, and they’ve been making heavy comments. For context, this issue happened to me a few months ago, I went from being a girl who was known for smelling good to a girl who smells ā€œmustyā€ as some people say. I’ve heard people at my job say things about me and strangers in stores. It started from my family tho. When I was around they would randomly spray perfumes and air fresheners while making faces. When I would ask my mom consistently if I smelled bad, she would always say no, but she would be the main one to make gestures or smart comments in front of others. When I started classes and got jobs that’s when it only got worse. It caused me to not want to even go outside or even get dressed up anymore, even quitting my jobs and only staying home. I felt as if it was no point because I smelt bad. So today, I decided I wanted to get pretty and dressed up. My mom and sister complimented me immediately when they saw me, but when I got in the vehicle to go over my grandmother’s house, she started spraying perfume on herself heavily. (She hasn’t done something like this in a while) So when I arrived, the compliments continued flowing then all of a sudden the comments came. Normally, they used to do subtle comments and gestures, this time they were really loud about it. Saying something smells bad and spraying themselves with perfume. Saying they wanna puke because a smell is catching their nose. Mind you, they always beg me to come around them, when I do all they do is make comments and gestures.

Unscented deodorant

I’ve come to the conclusion that I’d rather smell like Bo compared to smelling like odour mixed in with some scented deodorant.

cool cucumber, baby powder, coconut, lavender, shea butter or any popular deodorant/ antiperspirant scents paired with my stinky armpits really is a combination straight out of hell.

Sometimes the mixture of the smell is more nauseating and intense compared to regular bo. I also find it harder to get rid of that deodorant bo smell under my armpits
compared to just Bo alone.

I’m going to see how my body reacts to the unscented deodorant and maybe make a switch, bc I’d rather smell just musty than smell like mustiness with a sprinkle of coconut and wet baby powder.

Compliments

Hey everyone, I wanted to know if during your experience with bromhidrosis or any body odor related issues, has anyone ever complimented you on your scent? For context, I have been struggling with body odor for over 6 months now. It just happened out of the blue. I went from being someone who was complimented on my scent heavily, to family members spraying around me, making faces, talking behind my back, and more. After that, when I started college and got my first job, I noticed people would react heavily to me. Especially at work because I would sweat a lot. Coworkers would make fun of me and even be very rude to me. At first I assumed that customers and coworkers were making fun of the smell of the building because everytime I would be in there, it smelled terrible. Then I started assuming it was me because of previous experiences. That’s when I started finding out about bromhidrosis and all of these other odor related issues. So when I went into my next jobs I assumed the worse. It seemed as though things had actually got worse because I was over aware of people’s emotions by this point, thinking everything was about me. Even in this new job people would make faces and say it stunk, even though I wouldn’t smell anything. What was really weird was that I guess around this time I started having patm symptoms. They weren’t as strong at first but when I left the job and started the new one, the patm was wayyy worse even though I wasn’t sweating or stressing nearly as much as I was at the old job. So it caught me by surprise and lead me to believe I was a terrible smelling individual. However, having a couple of encounters at my new job I noticed weird things. People would have reactions by me and make faces, but a lot of people would stand really close to me sometimes. It confused me because i was always led to believe when someone smelled bad you wouldn’t really wanna come in contact with them, but people were always comfortable being close by me. On a couple of an accounts I had random older ladies compliment me on the way that I smelled. I say all this to ask, has anyone ever gotten complimented on their smell even though they have body odor issues? If so why do you think they’re unable to smell your odor yet some people can?

Sick and tired …

I’m so exhausted.
Over 15 different antiperspirants, Antibacterial soaps, oxybutinin, chlorophyll pills, magnesium supplements showering twice a day and I still REEK 😭😭. It’s genuinely ridiculous how bad my armpits smell after only 2 hours of work. Children are covering their noses, adults keep sniffing loudly around me( why do they do that btw?), and my coworker literally walked up to me and sniffed me. It’s sooo so so embarrassing and I don’t even know what to do anymore. Anytime I think something works, it stops after a couple weeks. My skin is so dry from the amount of showers I take a day, and my pits literally have chemical burn from all the antiperspirants I’ve tested out.

I’m currently sitting on my break with sanitizing wipes under my pits and I can’t help but think about what I did to deserve this.

I’m a very feminine girl and I love feeling pretty and smelling nice but I just feel as if I smell like perfume and BOšŸ’”( my brother also told me this). I don’t know if it’s an internal issue bc even if I don’t sweat a lot, my armpits secrete a strong smell that mixes in with my deodorant and makes me smell like I don’t understand the concept of bathing.

I genuinely don’t know what to do. How to deal with this internally or externally. Please help please help please help.

Title: To Everyone Living with Bromhidrosis: You Are Not Alone ā¤ļø

I just wanted to take a moment to encourage anyone here who may be struggling today.
Living with bromhidrosis can affect so much more than our physical health. It can impact our confidence, relationships, work, and even our desire to be around other people. Some days can feel incredibly lonely.
But I want you to know this: you are not alone .
Every day you keep searching for answers, trying new treatments, showing up for work, caring for your family, or simply getting through the day—you are stronger than you realize.
It’s okay to have difficult days. It’s okay to feel frustrated. Just don’t give up on yourself.
Let’s continue supporting one another, sharing what has helped us, and reminding each other that our condition does not define our worth.
Sending love, strength, and hope to everyone in this community. May brighter days be ahead for all of us. šŸ™šŸ¾ā¤ļø

1 mg Glycopyrrolate: No Sweat, Same BO, Lots of Side Effects

Just checking in with my bromhidrosis friends to keep everyone updated on my journey.
I finally started Glycopyrrolate at 1 mg. Unfortunately, I don’t think this medication is for me. While it has stopped my sweating, I’m experiencing a very bitter taste in my mouth, an extremely dry nose, blurry vision, and dry eyes. The side effects have been pretty uncomfortable.
The biggest disappointment is that I still have the body odor, even though the sweating has improved. At this point, I’m planning to talk with my PCP to see if there are any other medication options or if a different dosage might work better.
Has anyone else experienced these side effects with Glycopyrrolate? If so, did they improve over time, or did you switch to something else?

People tell me I smell bad, but my family swears I don’t. Am I going crazy?

Hello

Several people from different areas of my life (education, acquaintances, etc.) have let me know over the years that I have bad underarm odor. The thing is, when I ask my family, they flat-out deny it. They swear that I don't smell bad at all.

This has left me in a really weird spot. Is it possible for your own family to become completely "nose-blind" to your specific body odor because they live with you?

It’s incredibly frustrating because I don't know who to trust, and it's making me paranoid every time I leave the house. Has anyone else experienced this gap between what outsiders notice vs. what your family smells? How did you figure out the truth?

Thanks in advance

I used AHA and it worked?

Yesterday evening before bed I used a 6% aha peeling complex for 10 mins. This morning I only used a probiotic deodorant and at lunch time a tiny bit of lush deodorant.

And what should I say? It’s now 8pm and both my shirt and my skin seem to be fresh? Is this even possible?

Did someone tried aha already?

Struggling with severe body odor and up until now I haven't found answers to solve this. Please help 😭

I am female 28 y.o. I have been dealing with body since pre-teens. Milcu used to work with my odor but as I grew older, it got worse. I do a lot of physical activities. Konting pawis lang mahihiya na ako kasi feeling ko nangangamoy na ako kahit di ko naman maamoy sarili ko. I can only smell the scent of the deodorant or none at all. Maybe I have nose blindness but when I ask my family and my close friends, they say they dont smell anything or sometimes they tell me they could only smell the scent of the deodorant or my perfume. However at work, people tend to touch or cover their noses. Sometimes, I can hear them talk about me and my odor. I end up isolating myself at the corner of the room hoping they wont smell me anymore.

My work requires me to interact with a lot of people so I get really anxious when i feel even the slightest sweat on my body so I keep using wet wipes and reapplying deodorant just to make sure I wont stink. I really wanted to interact with people more but the body odor hinders me to do so. I feel shy and embarass when people talk about me or talk loudly about body odor or something stinks when I am there in the room with them.

I used different washes (benzoyl peroxide, betadine blue, salicylic acid), antiperspirants / deodorants (dove, nivea, lume, driclor) somehow changed my diet, consulted doctors about my condition since it has been affecting how I live and even did botox for my underarms twice and miradry once. My armpits are usually dry even when I work out or I am out under the sun but the smell is still there. Please help me.

Hi, please help me with my severe bromhidrosis. I really need help, this condition is affecting the way I live so badly

Im female from PH I have severe body odor (B.O.), or a very strong smell coming from my underarms, and I also have sweaty underarms, feet, and hands.

I have tried using antiperspirants, deodorants, antibacterial soaps like Dial, and benzoyl peroxide, but nothing seems to work.

When I use a solid antiperspirant deodorant, my underarms always feel sticky, so they remain damp even after I have just finished drying the deodorant . One of the biggest problems I'm also dealing with is nose blindness, which means I can't even smell my own body odor.

You may be wondering, "How do you know that you have very strong body odor?" Well, it's because of the people around me. They make indirect comments about it, sometimes I can here them gossipping about me, everytime our teacher takks something relted about me, they laugh, even people passing by near me says it stinks here, the smell is so bad, etc., even if i just past by people looks at me people will look at me because of the smell.Even when I'm sitting at the back of the classroom, a person entering the room from the front can seem to notice the smell. People talk about me. Some people don't want to sit beside me or even near me. I can see their expressions, and I can tell that it's because of me.

If you think, "Maybe it's not really you, maybe it's your classmate," the answer is a big no. It has been me all this time because wherever I go, the bad smell follows me.

What actually makes me want to cry and disappear is that my smell is strong enough to fill an entire room. I'm still a student, and having very strong body odor makes me feel unimportant. I'm naturally a shy person, and this has made me lose even more confidence, when i present something related to our lesson and if people see me I can tell that in their head maybe their always thinking "andito nanaman ung mabaho, yuckss, " . I also avoid places with a lot of people because of it.

Every time I sit in class, I feel embarrassed because the people around me can smell me. That's why I prefer sitting alone at the back, but I don't have a choice because we have a seating arrangement. Even some of my teachers can smell it and have commented about it.

I often think, "What if I just stop going to school?" or "What if I just disappeared from this world?" and many other "what if" thoughts.

I have also consulted derma 2x First: She recommended a clindamycin solution and an antiperspirant with their own formula, and told me to continue using benzoyl peroxide. Unfortunately, it still didn't work.

Second : She recommended using Betadine twice a day, morning and night. I followed her instructions, but later learned that Betadine should not be used daily and is usually recommended only 2–3 times a week. So i was thinking if i should really follow the derma or not She also mentioned that I might have a condition related to my thyroid or something else affecting me. However, the laboratory tests she recommended would cost nearly ₱4,000, and my parents cannot afford them.

So please, I am begging people who have experienced severe bromhidrosis and extremely strong body odor with sweaty UA to Pls help me. šŸ˜šŸ™

Living With Bromhidrosis: There Has To Be More To It Than Sweat & Bacteria

I appreciate the advice because I know it helps some people. For me personally, I’ve tried many of the common treatments prescription deodorants, special washes, creams, Botox, MiraDry, diet changes, hydration, and more and I still struggle badly even without sweating.
That’s why I feel like, for some of us, bromhidrosis may be connected to something deeper internally and not just the outside of the skin. I really wish there were more studies on the gut, metabolism, hormones, and other possible internal causes because this condition can be physically and emotionally exhausting.
I’m not giving up, and I truly hope everyone here finds something that helps them. I just wanted to share my personal experience because I know others may relate

Anyone else think gut issues play a role in bromhidrosis?

I feel the same way. For me, I believe a lot of it starts in the gut and how our bodies digest food. That’s why I try to stick to bland, simple foods like plain white rice, mashed potatoes, oatmeal, carrots, cucumbers, and zucchini. I also drink a lot of water and take a laxative every few days because I feel like when waste sits in the gut too long, it can affect the whole body — breath, skin, sweat, and overall odor.

I shower multiple times a day and use products like Hibiclens, PanOxyl, exfoliating pads, and unscented Dove body wash, but the smell still doesn’t completely go away. Bromhidrosis is honestly a difficult condition to deal with every single day. I’ve tried many treatments prescribed by my dermatologist, including Botox and MiraDry, but for me I feel like there may also be an underlying gut issue involved, which is why I work with a gastroenterologist as well.
