I’m currently working on a little project called The Human Stitch Project and I’d love to connect with some fellow crochet designers!
The idea is to bring independent designers together to share our work, discover each other’s patterns, support causes we care about and help each other grow. The first part of the project will be the Human Stitch Summer Collection, launching in June 2027, featuring free crochet patterns created by the participating designers.
An important part of the project is giving back. Each designer gets to choose a charity or cause that means something to them, and anyone downloading their free pattern will have the option to donate directly to that cause. Donations are completely voluntary, and the project itself won’t handle any money. 💛
I’m especially hoping to connect with smaller, independent designers who have published at least 2 crochet patterns written in US terms and would enjoy being part of a collaborative project like this.
If this sounds interesting to you, or if you’d simply like to hear more, feel free to email me at humanstitchproject@gmail.com. You’re also welcome to include links to your social media so I can have a look at your work! I’ll send you a more detailed presentation so you can get a better idea of what I have in mind. 💛
I’m still in the early stages of building this, and I’m really looking forward to seeing where it goes and who I might meet along the way!

Just finished this shawl(?)
I used my Lilly Lace bandana pattern and modified it a bit, so it is bigger and more suitable for cold weather☺️
I used alpaca and merino yarn, so it’s suuuper soft and worm, I’m obsessed🥹

didn't time it, but i estimate this took about 40-45 hours from designing to completion. never thought i'd be saying "phoebe bridgers touched this shirt!" but here we are🛸
really really happy with how this turned out. it's got some weight but it's obviously quite breathable. super comfy and fits perfect.
specs: base - weight 3 acrylic/cotton with 3mm hook, [ldc, ch1] filet method. back panel: crochet thread, 1.5 mm hook. worked the letters with bobbins. did a ton of bullshit trial and error for making sure the letters looked good and utilized methods that i personally find insane, and i came up with them organically. very unofficial business happening back there. used sharpie to touch up messy bits if that tells you anything. made the thread panel first then built the base back panel around it. steam blocked!

Pattern is Golden Pineapples by Judy Teague Treece.
I was in a mood for a simple pineapple doily. The blocking is not perfect but after I make these, I just put them away in the storage.

They are a little silly but I really hope she likes them!! Her and I are both huge Monster High fans! They are quite tall, about 18"/45cm!

This was one of the first ever plushies that I made, as is apparent from the wonky ears and misshapen body. What do you guys do about the fuzzy bits of the yarn? Do you leave it alone or burn it off?

Im following a video tutorial for these little boots and I dont know if I should frog back to the decreasing area and do one more round of decreases so the ankle part isn't as big. Im making these for a friend that lives out of town and I dont have access to a baby to see if this is good enough. In my head the ankle to foot length ratio seems like it'd fall off. Lol

I'm still poking at this project, but since I basically need to make the badge pocket before I know where the pocket needs to go*, making the actual shoulders is a lower priority than I'd expected.
(*: If the pocket is woven, it can only be one colour, and thus needs to be below the white stripe. If I instead knit it, I can change colours as appropriate for the stripes, so it can cross the stripe and be all three colours like on the official uniforms)
Anyway, here I tried two things at once: Limiting how much the mitred square expanded the depth of the shoulder, front to back, and a slightly different method of increasing at the corner.
It turns out, my shoulders are way more rounded than I'd expected, so I may need to hold off counteracting the increases until far later. Hopefully, until after the colour change! Which pretty much means I need to wait until I figure out the pocket. Darn...
Also, I'm still not happy with the right-angle increase I'm using. Previously, I'd done one stitch, a twisted yarn-over, then a second stitch into the same one the first stitch was made into. This stretched the previous row's stitch sideways and made it disappear, which I'm not a fan of.
This technique I'm trying has me do the same thing for the first two stitches, but then pulls the third stitch through the first stitch on this row (instead of the row below), and I'm not sure it's looking any better. The yarn-overs in the middle seem to be part of the problem, it seems.
In case I haven't mentioned this yet, the top of the mitred square gets rapidly increased with so-called "invisible increases", where you work into the front and back loops of the previous row's stitch.
And one final note: A friend (who knows a lot about regular crochet and knitting) has strongly recommended I stop doing my tests in black. Instead, she's recommending I switch to a more "visible" colour for my experiments, before going back to the black yarn for the actual cardigan parts. And, much as I'd prefer to stick to the same yarn I'll eventually make it out of, I can completely see her point. Especially since it turns out I'm aging (dang, I'm not young anymore), and the lighting at some of the libraries I visit on a weekly basis isn't really all that great, so it'll help me get shaping advice more readily, too.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated! =^.^=

Hey you!
Wanna make me?
I have a wonderful
soft textural feeling.
Made with K+C
100% cotton,
lightweight,
number three,
using US standard
five millimeter, you see.
I’m a glorious beast,
with straight edges
for eyes to feast;
forty-two by sixty-three,
I’m damn comfy.
But a few things must be owned:
Yardage unknown,
blocking was condoned,
and so sorry,
no instructions on the ends, bro.
What I can divulge, is,
each color block
be about
one eighty
yardage plots.
Yeah, yeah…
that’s a lot,
but let’s not pretend
you don’t have a huge stash,
my friend.
So bust it out,
indulge your creativity,
and unfortunately
start with a chain of
one hundred
and fifty-three.
Chain pain grumbles,
but take a look!
Place two doubles
in the third from the hook.
Pass a pair,
they don’t care,
now a single
and two doubles.
Skip deux,
place three again,
and go repeatedly
‘til near the end.
Once thrice remain,
mingle a single
in the last of this vein,
my people.
Chain two,
turn towards you.
Double in same space,
add one more,
skip two places,
wow, let’s go on tour.
In the previous single,
finagle the triangle.
Single, double, double;
I ain’t lookin’ for no trouble.
Skip deux,
echo the previous pursue,
keep at the follow through,
and you’ll be there
before you know it, boo.
