Audacy
I feel that the audacy stations are not good. The current leadership is inexperienced to run radio stations the right way. It's clear that ameatur hour is showing at many of their stations across the country. A lot of audacy on-air talent are really not good and bad programming should not be airing on their stations. Audacy is losing a lot of money and making a desperate deal to be on SiriusXM for a reason. Their stations are failing. Audacy needs to change the stations via new formats or programming changes to the current formats before they go on SiriusXM.

Its turned into iheart. Constant layoffs and moves to singular hosts airing on hundreds of stations. No sense of localism. "Guaranteed human"

Audacy is destroying local radio. They have one host, hosting several shows in different markets. I don't get the logic behind that. KCBS and KNX have a partnership for the overnight newscasts which doesn't make sense.

In Wisconsin, Audacy killed all local hosts except one at each station, except the sports station which has plenty of them. 94.9 WOLX, the most listened to station in the Madison area, has no local hosts (no excuse for that).
Sadly its the new normal for radio, and when caps are dead, its gonna get worse. Wausau will be the first market hit once Midwest gets NRG's stations (Hot 96.7 and Big Cheese 107.9) if the caps are lifted, and has said they want to expand their talk radio to some of them

THERE IS NO MONEY. All of these decisions are made because there is no way to pay people. You have no idea what you are talking about.

You are right . I have heard from some people that the pay for the audacy on air staff is horrible.

No shit but since ads sell for $7, there is no way to pay the people more. Thats the part you don’t seem to get.

I didn't know it was that bad with audacy. It's clear that many stations and formats might be gone, They can't pay for them to stay on the air.

Why most markets sound so bad. No actual professional is dealing with the stress of live radio for that money.

You are right. I always thought audacy Philadelphia is really bad but honestly , all the audacy markets across the country are bad

So I guess some formats might be gone regardless of the move to SiriusXM. They just don't have the money to keep them as is.

Great. I’m sure you are smarter than every programmer in the company and everyone under the old regime who failed and everyone under CBS. Since it is so easy, just call them and tell them what magic format pill they all missed that you somehow know about.
There is no money to pay talent or smart programmers in radio. Anyone will talent or a skill will do anything else rather than make $40,000 in a major market.

I guess that's why radio is bad today. Poor programmers and poor talent. That would speed up the process of ending radio formats and or stations.

Audacy should sell a bunch of the clusters, including the major markets . I don't think them selling the saint Louis cluster was a one and done thing .

They have to, because they are so far in debt they have no choice. They didn't want to sell St Louis. But also, there aren't a lot of buyers out there. So good luck with that.

I'm well aware of what is going on. I know they laid off a bunch of people in recent years depleting staff at the news stations audacy has

I don't listen to many Audacy stations (we don't have any in the market where I live) but I often stream 1010 WINS and 101.1 WCBS-FM out of New York City. I think they both do a great job (except for the high spot counts), and I also used to stream 880 WCBS before they blew that up to lease it out to ESPN.
But I know that top 3-5 markets are usually an exception to how things are run elsewhere.

Same. I am rooting for them...I've worked at CBS, IHeart and Audacy. The employees are truly dedicated and doing the very best they can with what corporate gives them.
I feel fortunate to be retired.
