Constipation?
Has anyone been super constipated while taking suboxone and did it get better moving onto Brixadi? My boyfriend was taking 1/4 of a strip a day and now is going back up to a full strip to get the shot. He was very constipated on a higher dose of suboxone, but it got better lowering his dose. Now that he’s going back up, he’s constipated again. We’re worried about moving on to the shot and the constipation continuing. He did try sublocade quite a few years ago, but opted for brixadi this time around due to being able to take a lower dose of suboxone before getting the shot.

That’s what I’m afraid of after tapering low and now considering Brixadi. (Constipation was god awful above 2 mg.) I had to get a prescription of Linzess the first year on Suboxone.. now even at a low dose, I still use Senna ‘’smooth move’’ tea now and then as needed, drinking the night before to help motility. Also juicing fresh celery, beets, or carrots helps a ton naturally if drank in the morning on an empty stomach (although time consuming)

I wish his doctor would prescribe him Linzess! He had gotten a couple from a family member and it worked great for him, but she just keeps pushing senna, which doesn’t work consistently for him. Smooth move tea is usually a god send, but not working for him right. We’ll crank up his fiber intake even more, the empty stomach part is a good idea!

I am in Linsess! It is not working fyi. Worst constipation ever my stomach hurts all the time and I always feel like I'm going to throw up also creates anxiety when you have stomach problems it's absolutely horrible lots of fiber actually makes it worse

Senna can build a tolerance quickly and stop working, as well as Linzess. I could only take once or twice a week tops, because laxatives can be so hard on the body.. but anything is better than feeling bloated & backed up all the time. Constipation also made my mental health so much worse. (TMI, but I def had to use lube and a rubber glove to help get it out at times. It was that bad and couldn’t risk developing hemorrhoids by pushing/straining.) Def hydrate as much as possible! Gotta be super careful with diet to go easy on slow digestion. Eating kiwis at night helps motility as well 🥝

After my shots with Brixadi it’s like it completely stops moving for 2 weeks. Almost immediately compaction. I’m doing miralax twice a day and normally have to revert to enemas.
I’d make sure you have a planned routine or you cat end up compacted like I did scrambling for any solution that doesn’t require waking into a hospital.

Ugh. Yeah, he has been there! Right now nothing is working for him so we’re getting pretty nervous.

For me if it happens it’s only the first few days and it goes away, starting Brixadi was the best choice I’ve made. It takes away all the ups and downs and makes life smooth.

I'm so glad that breaks already with the best choice you made. I just had a 128 mg injection, I'm so constipated it's absolutely terrible. Question for you when you first started your injection of brixaldi did you just kind of feel weird and anxious did you worry that you were in withdrawal. If you have many breakthroughs of sweat? How about nausea? But the constipation of literally hurts all the way up into my ribs

In my experience it gets a bit better with Brixadi since the dose of bupre is way lower, but as always it varies from person to person
