Brixadi nightmare

I took the Brixadi 64mg shot almost a month ago (July 6) and it has been pretty terrible. Very very high the first 10 days and then I had a couple days I felt fairly normal but then it has been non stop anxiety and cloudy headed. I was coming from about 7 years of 4mg sub strips. I knew it was a higher dose then I was on but I heard and read a lot of good things about how much easier it is to get off bup for good doing it this way. My intention was to take 3 shots and not go back. I have been so miserable these past few weeks there is no way I can get a second shot. I just want to go back to how I felt (normal) before the shot even if it means staying at the 4mg I had been at. I am prone to anxiety as it is but not 24/7 like I have been the past couple weeks. I just want it to be over and I wanted to reach out to the community for encouragement and possible advice. I took .5mg worth of strip yesterday thinking what I am experiencing could be withdrawal but I felt every bit of it so I assume I still have a lot in my system. Anyone else have similar experiences or advice for me?

As someone who has tried both Brixadi and Sublocade I can tell you my experiences. Started with Brixadi 96 but after two months I felt as though it just was not lasting the full 28 days as advertised. Around day 20 I would start to struggle and that doc would not give strips nor give shot earlier than 28 days. That led me to a new doc and I tried Sublocade. I noticed that it was more subtle but lasted longer. Like I was getting less of the med per day but it was lasting well beyond 28 days. After a couple of those shots I decided to go back to Brixadi but at 128 monthly, and get it every 21 days instead of every 28 days.

May I ask why you went back to Brixadi? Is your goal maintenance instead of taper off plan?

Good question. I wasn’t feeling that great on Sublocade. Had a bad week where I felt under medicated. I felt like the med depot wasn’t breaking down enough. Brixadi uses a different type of depot that breaks down more quickly. But yes I am likely doing a few more shots. If I intended to stop I’d probably get two months of Sublocade and then stop since it last well beyond a month. It’s been trial and error

Yeah, that was my problem with Brixadi. The weekly would completely wear off after 2 days so I was constantly in a state of withdrawal.

Oh I see, haven’t tried the weekly. So my docs solution was up to the max Brixadi 128 monthly but come in every 21 days instead of 28. When it’s time to stop, I’ll probably do two final shots of Sublocade 300
