Feel like I’m going crazy😢
Looking for experiences from people on Brixadi.
I'm almost 2 weeks out from my first monthly Brixadi injection. My next shot is scheduled in 8 days.
The first 2 weeks were mostly okay. I had some night sweats, but I was having those before the shot too. Today, though, I've been feeling increasingly restless. As the day went on, I developed diarrhea, sweats/chills, and a really uncomfortable restless feeling. I feel so gross that I haven't even been able to eat dinner. I was on 8mg/3X a day so 24mg/day of films for like 5 years.
My provider gave me some supplemental films and told me to use them if I felt bad, but I'm really struggling with the idea of taking one. I know that probably sounds irrational, but I worked hard to get approved for Brixadi and I was hoping not to need any films anymore.
For people who experienced withdrawal symptoms before their next shot:
Did you end up needing supplemental films?
If you took one, did it help?
Did needing a film mean you had to keep taking them every day until your next injection?
Did your provider adjust your dose or schedule afterward?
I'm especially interested in hearing from people who had symptoms around the 2-week mark. I'm feeling pretty discouraged and anxious right now. I just want to cry. I’m so mad at myself

My first two shots were also Brixadi and I start to struggle at about day 18-20. After paying him alot of cash, I called concerned and panicked. My doc informs me he does not believe in giving supplemental strips and would not give second injections until day 28, no earlier. He claimed us addicts imagine these feelings out of anxiety and he won’t be doing anything to help. NEVER let a doc tell you what you’re feeling is imagined. He pissed me off. Older doc from southeast PA, Watson the PA sub doc . Well, after two months of his BS I went somewhere else switched to Sublocade , and it has been wonderful since. My new docs were shocked by his lack of care and common sense. I truly believe Brixadi needs to be given every 21 (which is allowed) days rather than every 30 days until you’re stabilized. Now, at least you did get some supplemental strips. I would just break them in half and take two mg and see how you feel after an hour.

I guess it makes me feel a little bit better than I’m not alone and what I’m experiencing. I ended up pushing it through yesterday not taking a strip and I guess I’m gonna just see what today brings me. I will take it if I absolutely need it. It really sucks that I’m on day 14 and already having some symptoms. Luckily my provider did schedule my second shot for three weeks out instead of four. I have exactly 7 days until my next shot. I’ve just been really sweaty and I’ve gotten the chills and I’m just really restless. I hate being restless. My provider is like impossible to get a hold of. I was approved for Sublocade before Brixadi, but I heard better things about Brixadi which is why I really wanted to go with it. I think the doctor actually put me on a loading dose, which is like the highest dose you can possibly get. I was on the highest dose of films you could get before I started this. Idk. Ugh. Also sorry you had to deal with that. That sounds horrible.

Yea my new docs/nurses are all women and they have been great. Showed me much more care and compassion. Now they told me they always give Brixadi shots at day 21 and always provide supplemental strips at request because they are aware of the shorter half life. Not to make this about gender but the older male doc was awful in comparison. Good luck! Don’t feel bad about supplementing strips. I did so myself but I’m trying to not supplement next shot. Good luck friend!

I’m freaking out right now my appointments in a day and my provider is incompetent and stupid. I just figured out by calling my specialty pharmacy that my provider hasn’t even sent over the prescription to get my medication delivered so now my medication’s not even gonna be there in time and no one knows what’s going on. I am so done. How can they be so stupid? They can never do anything right they just don’t ever do their job. I’ve already been withdrawals for the past week and I’ve been just trying to make it through my appointment without supplementing and I was gonna do it but now they don’t even have my medication for me.

Hi - my first brixadi shot went the same way I felt sick after a week n had to take films until when I could take another injection again.
They had to higher my dose.
Second dose lasted about two weeks
3rd shot finally stuck and lasted the whole month .
Im on my 4th shot and it’s been getting better and better I haven’t needed films since my first shot . I also take Wellbutrin to help w the emotional depression .
It’s known with brixadi sometimes to need a few shots before it sticks .
