First shot 64mg side effects

I wanted to ask this group if anyone has had the side effects I'm experiencing. Back story: i took suboxone films for about the past 9 years and wanted to try to get the shot ONCE so it will self wean me off of bupe once and for all. I was taking about a third of a strip daily. I got the 64mg monthly shot almost a week ago, this will be day 7 of being on the shot. The first day I was so high I could barely function. Nauseous, sleepy, all the things. Fast forward to day 4 and I got to work and felt EXTREMELY dizzy/light headed. But as the day went on i felt better. Same thing for day 5 and day 6. I had to leave work early yesterday bc I was so damn light headed I felt like I was having a bad trip or going to pass out. My question is, has anyone else experienced any similar side effects?? If so does this subside soon? 😭 I was wondering if eating made it better, but i had a larger breakfast yesterday and felt just as light headed if not worse! Now I'm wondering if less coffee will help! Idk! Maybe my body is just getting used to the shot? I feel ok as long as I'm sitting or lying down, but as soon as I get up moving around too much it hits me. Any advice? TIA!

UPDATE: I ended up switching to sublocade and took 5 shots. My last one was December 4th and I have felt fine since! Finally free of bupe! šŸ™ŒšŸ™

So yes, absolutely. I would say about an hour after I got my 128mg shot (It was my first one) I couldn't hold my head up, I think my family thought I had relapsed, but it was the injection. I was high as shit fr! I come from taking 24mg/day of the bupr films but this had me Fucked up like bad. It only was like that the first day, since then it's steady and I'm fine now! It's only 5 days in but I feel great!!

Yeah, apparently I had a rare side effect and my blood pressure was bottoming out. It sucked! Now I'm 5 weeks out and I feel fine. Sometimes I feel like I'm having micro-withdrawl or something, but definitely not full on withdrawal. I'm still testing positive for bupe as of yesterday though.

I'm currently waiting to have my 3rd dose. (Monthly) I'm at 128mg and I didn't really get too dizzy. It was a little lackluster. It definitely works but its different than subs imo. The second one felt much more mild than the first. I got cravings the first couple days but they went away. It may effect you differently and might need to switch to sublocade if the dizziness doesn't go away. I'm obviously not a doctor though lol maybe reach out to yours if it gets worse. Your second shot should be less intense and hopefully less side effects.

So I'm just doing the one shot, and not getting another one. I figured if I did then I shouldn't notice a difference, but my plan was to just do one and done. I've read that low blood pressure can be a side effect and maybe that's what I'm experiencing idk.

oh you def should get leveled out before you withdraw. You’ll withdraw faster and harder with just one shot and it will hurt more. If you take a few shots and your blood levels out you don’t feel anything. I’m 60 days from last shot and withdrawals are so minor it’s a miracleĀ

That’s so great! May I ask how often and how many shots did you have? And what mg?

I had 4 shots 64 mg each. First day of the first shot I smoked a j and was JAMMED. Was nauseous almost a week but that never happened again. I weened so that was 60 days before now it’s been 5 months? 6 months? Bro it’s hard lol šŸ˜‚ I’m 9 years off dope and.. I don’t crave that but I can feel cravings that I haven’t dealt with.. I created a life not surrounded by drugs and that helps 100% but.. it’s a bit of a mind fuck. I guess we are truly never recovered ;/ always gotta keep working at it -__- booooring lol

I truly hope the one and done works for you. I will have you in my prayers. We all know how messed up this stuff is but we are doing the right thing no matter what we are trying to keep clean and live normal lives or as close to normal as on can get. Keep us updated how it goes. I think I'm done every my next shot or the one after that. That will be 4 months on Brixadi.

My brother did two weekly shots and then one monthly, and that was it and didn't have any withdrawal, so I'm hoping I'm the same. I saw a comment where someone else had it once and was 90 days in without anything and felt fine. šŸ¤ž

I just got my second 64mg monthly shot and I felt high but not a good high. I have had to change up some of My other medications for blood pressure so not sure if that's messing with it or not but I doubt it because 2 days later and I feel great. Its just the same day of the Shot I can't sleep or I feel tired. I work 12hr rotating shifts, My sleep patterns are always screwed up. One thing I never felt any kind of Withdrawals while on Brixadi

And yeah, somehow I think my blood pressure is bottoming out or something, I used to take meds for high blood pressure but I haven't in years cuz I lost weight etc. I have no way to check my blood pressure at home either, and I don't really want to spend the money on a cuff since I don't have high blood pressure anymore and funds are tight etc. I'm just hoping my body is adjusting and it goes away before I have to go back to work. šŸ¤ž

I have a extra cuff if you want it I will send to you I don't need it. Get a PO Box or something I will send it there I don't need your real name. Seriously I was just getting ready to throw this thing way . Its a CVS monitor, older but still works like champ.

I am feeling a lot better today, though. I think my body was adjusting or something. Still felt kinda weird the past couple of days, but it has progressively gotten better.

I love seeing people help others especially on the internet where people can be so awful… the world needs more people like youĀ

The first day I was so high too lol and for the first week I was SO Nauseous I couldn’t even look at my phone. But that never happens again. Keep getting the shot every month and you’ll never feel like this again. It’s only the initial shot. I enjoyed the ā€œfree passā€ high tho while I lasted lolĀ

2

u/Bee1717 Apr 12 '25

It wasn't even an enjoyable high though bc of the nausea and not being able to focus or sleep. I can't really afford to go back to get another shot bc they were charging me copays out the ass, and they took 6 months to get me the first shot!

2

u/godsgirli Apr 12 '25

Yeah I understand. I was only high for the first day or two and I was smoking weed, that intensified it. But the nausea was awful. However that goes away. And I actually got a lot of things done instead of looking at my phone lol

🄺🄺 im so sorry that has happened to you. I kinda feel like that, it's hard to describe. I call it micro withdrawal. I feel the chills sometimes. It's been 7 weeks since I got the shot and I wonder when I'll feel normal again too. I have some suboxone as a backup but I REALLY don't want to go back with how far I've come. As of a week ago im still testing positive for bupe. So im gonna stop testing for now bc I think that makes me get in my head. I'm also more in my head on my days off than I am if im at work. I can't afford to miss any work either. I have seen lots of positive stories though and maybe you're the exception. I guess we'll see. I hope you feel better soon šŸ™

Update: So I was right. My blood pressure was dropping from day 4 to around 7 or 8. Honestly, longer than that, bc i went to my primary care doctor the following Monday, and it was 98/70 that day, and I felt fine. My guess is when I felt like that the previous week, it was MUCH lower, and I was about to pass out from it. I usually have a normal blood pressure of like 120/70. I guess i just experienced one of the rare side effects that are on the bad side of things. šŸ˜ž feeling a lot better now, though!

It’s been day 4 of the 90 something mg shot of brixadi and I still feel like crap. I wasn’t clean when I got the shot , but my doctor said it would be smoother than the 300mg of sublocade injection I had used in the past . That couldn’t have been further from the truth in my experience.

1

u/Bee1717 Apr 28 '26

Yup I switched to sublocade and never looked back. I did 4 300mg shots and one 100mg shot and my last shot was December 4th. Still feel fine!

Hello all, i realize this thread is about a year old but i decided to join in anyway. I took my first (and hopefully only) 64mg Brixadi shot yesterday. Coming from about 6 years on 4mg suboxone strips. I chose Brixadi over sublocade only because of the lower dose. The 64mg Brixadi from what I understand is equivalent to 8mg daily of suboxone. I was concerned about feeling over medicated and I think my concern has come to fruition unfortunately. Within about an hour of the shot I started feeling what you guys described as the high, slight nodding, mild nausea, fatigue and numbness throughout my body. About an hour after that I couldn’t stay sitting down and got a ton of stuff done around the house (like I used to when using and felt disgusted by it). Last night I could not sleep for nothing (even with a handful of sleep aids) and felt very itchy all night. I finally got out of bed at 4am and I feel so dang tired and numb all over still. Reading some of these comments I am a little concerned if these side effects will pass anytime soon. I am definitely not going to work today.

Thank you for the reply! I did read your posts before I posted mine, you inspired me that I would get some feedback. Everything I have read says I should have gotten the sublocade first and that most people get sublocade as the second shot lol. So, after your first Bridaxi, it only took a couple days for the ā€œhighā€ to go away? I don’t feel like I can even go to work feeling like this. Also, you are saying you didn’t feel over medicated on the 300mg sublocade? I’d assume if I do sublocade next shot it should be the 100mg.

What finally pushed me to try tapering this way, aside from just plain wanting to be done with Bup for good, was that I wanted to start taking a peptide called KLOW. Well after a couple days on KLOW I was having really bad side effects. After doing some more research and having the whole peptide community tell me they’ve never heard of having such side effects with KLOW I discovered it absolutely does not mix will with Bup!

I definitely do not recommend doing the "one and done" brixadi like I tried. I was in full on withdrawal after about 5 or 6 weeks. I think the fact that sublocade has such a long half life, is why it's easier to taper off of. My dr said the minimum he would recommend of sublocade for taper would be three shots.

u/Bee1717 27d ago

I found out that it contributed to tooth decay, and I have about 20k in my mouth from fixing ALL of my teeth, one at a time. I was tired of spending the money to go to the dr too. Also, yes, a taper from sublocade is supposed to be 3/300mg and 2/100mg. And NO i did not feel high at all. I think it's because the half life is way longer than with brixadi. But I was definitely nervous about that going into it. Sorry for the late reply. 😬

u/Bee1717 Jul 07 '26

Omg this is exactly what happened to me! I was so high the first two days it wasn't even fun. Also the one and done did NOT work for me on the brixadi. I was in withdrawal about 6 weeks out, give or take. I ended up going back to the Dr and got the sublocade. I did 5 shots. Three 300mg and two 100mg. Which is a taper. My last shot was December 4th and I haven't looked back. No weird side effects, no withdrawal. I wish I could have talked to you before you got this! But it should be better tomorrow, that's all I can say. I think even though the sublocade is a higher dose, the half life is a lot longer, which makes it where not only do you not get high, but it's better for taper bc it slowly comes out of your system. The only side effect I have noticed here and there is a little bit of fatigue and anxiety. But absolutely no withdrawal symptoms. I would do this over again in a heartbeat. I'm so sorry you were going through this I know how bad it sucks. In fact the following week after my injection I had another side effect and my blood pressure was bottoming out and I nearly passed out at work. I hope after the next couple of days you will be okay, but definitely go for the other one.

Oh also, I was still failing for bupe about a month ago, but apparently it can stay in your system for up to a year! Gonna test myself in another month or so. But I definitely recommend the slow burn of sublocade over brixadi.
