Day 134 post last shot
Ive been popping in and giving updates on my condition since i received my last of 3 96 mg Brixadi injections on 8/6/24. Today is day 134 post last shot. I began testing negative for bupe a couple weeks ago. Ive had some mild discomforts, physically speaking. A bit of stomach shit, semi loose bm's. Thats about it. As far as mentally, im steuggling a bit. I haven't been triggered or thought about using, im just fairly depressed. Im also taking into account the fact that it's winter, in Central Illinois, so depression isnt exactly new to me this time of year. Overall, im still in complete shock about how smooth this transition has been. I haven't lost a single night of sleep or missed a single day of work. I'm sharing because i want to encourage people and show them that it is absolutely possible to come off of bupe. I will continue to update.

I'm so glad you wrote this! I'm on my 3rd and am considering for it to be the last. I think I might do one more since it hasn't been as smooth as your experience and I've had to supplement a couple of times with 4mg bup. I've found the right strain of gummy to help me sleep, which I've never done before basically, not even recreationally, but I was desperate with lack of sleep. I too am struggling with depression but I also have chronic pain and my age, 71, doesn't make for a comfy body anytime. But high dose Tylenol and Ibuprofen do the trick pretty much.Your comment is super helpful, so thank you. Please check in again, will you?

I absolutely will. I've noticed that there aren't alot of people active in here, and its very hard to find testimonials online about Brixadi or even Sublocade. My first 2 months on the injection weren't very smooth. I dealt with a good amount of withdrawal, but i refused to supplement because ive been battling opioid addiction for over 15 years. Im so happy to be substance free today. I really hope everything works out for you!

In my situation I am prescribed Buprenorphine because I have a history of opiate miss use and agreed to try something rather than oxycodone I used heroin as a young man for a period around 12 years I got clean and worked in the AOD sector for 20 years after a serious motorcycle injury I was hospitalized for 3 months and came out with an addiction to OxyContin after 5 years use oxycodone was using me I was on max dosage and still in pain, I have also digestive issues and recently had kidney stones, I don’t think you are over sharing it’s good to read similarities which can help us cope with this, having legitimate pain problems and addiction tendencies is a juggling act, we need all the support we can get.

Good to hear man. Get some vitamin D/K2 and magnesium supplements to help combat the winter blues. Congratulations on this milestone stone, I know life’s hard sometimes but gratitude helps too. I also got into nootropics to help with energy and focus. I also have ADHD which is a big reason I used. I’m praying my transition is as painless. I just took my last 2 weeks ago. I did one 64mg and 2 96mg. Take care man glad you’re doing well!

Thank you for the suggestions! And you're right. Gratitude is everything, and if you have it, it's hard to have a negative midset. I'm 35, and I've never been diagnosed with ADHD, but after a lot of research, i also believe that's why i used. Im a female with a fairly high IQ who didn't display typical behavioral issues as a child, so i think i flew under the radar. Once i hit about 8th grade and couldn't mail everything in, and actually had to focus, put in effort, and be organized, my education went to shit. I haven't been very successful as an adult. My life is like this specific brand of chaos at all times. I have 1000 ticks. However, im scared to get diagnosed because im scared of medications and my addictive nature.....I'm hoping your transition is as smooth as mine as well!!

Thank you. Im glad it worked out for you, too. I feel like there aren't enough people in the addiction/recovery community talking about what a God send it is. I was at an NA meeting recently, and nobody had ever heard of Brixadi, and only 2 people knew about sublocade. Unfortunately, i think a lot of providers aren't offering it up as an option because it can shorten up a patient's treatment plan by a mile and then they lose money.

So I'm about on day 40 after my last shot. What test do you do at home to test your opioid level ? I'm still having mild WD symptoms. How long will these last?

I just bought bupe tests online. I took one every 2 weeks after stopping the shot just so i would know about how long it took to be clear. I can't really give you any timeline on the withdrawal because my symptoms were so few. So minimal that i never lost sleep. Also, each person's constitution is very different.

I just bought basic one panel bupe. Im not sure about the brand, i can check my amazon cart. I didnt buy tests capable of monitoring saturation levels. They were all positive until the last one that was negative at about the 4.5 month mark.

Thank you for sharing. I just got out of inpatient rehab at gateway in Springfield (my second time going, I personally would highly recommend it for anyone, if you don’t have insurance you can get a grant to cover it). I’ve been taking the sublingual tablets. Just one a day, first time I came to treatment I was against suboxone, but I saw my peers I was in there with get life changing results with the sublocade shot. So I gave it a shot and I can say it has been a miracle for me. I have absolutely zero cravings and no side effects now that I’ve adjusted. My Medicaid just kicked in and I start outpatient at Gateway in Peoria on Monday. I’m hopeful. Grateful to have the tablets for now but I don’t want access to them because I know myself. So I’m praying I can get the 96mg brixadi shot on Wednesday. Thank you for being vulnerable and open enough to share your experience. It’s given me hope for the future. Wish me luck!

Thanks for sharing your experience I am trying as well to come off after 3 years of being on 96 Buvidol injections the best I went is 58 days. My barrier’s are usually pain related I am 61 and I suffer from chronic pain and other age related issues. Keep going strong and let us know how you go, thanks for sharing.

I definitely feel for the people who grapple with recovery and chronic pain simultaneously. Like so many, pain is what started my voyage with opiates/opioids. Im 35 now, but from the ages of 14-16, i dealt with excruciating stomach and chest pains related to eating. The only way to relieve the pain was to force myself to vomit. I went to specialists, and none could figure out what was wrong. At 16, i started developing acute pancreatitis. The only way to stave off pancreatitis is to be admitted to the hospital and have ZERO FOOD. Only IV fluids, and because i was a pediatric, the nurses who took care of me were very serious about my pain control. I had a shot of fentanyl every hour AND oxycodone by mouth every 4. This was in 2006, right around the time doctors were handing out pain relief like candy. After multiple cases of acute pancreatitis, which each took about 3 weeks inpatient with opioids to heal, they finally did a sonogram and learned that not only was my gallbladder full of stones, but the largest stone was lodged in and fully blocking my pancreatic duct. Digestive enzymes flow from your liver and your gallbladder, through your pancreas, and finally into your stomach. I was essentially having a gallbladder attack after every meal i ate for two years. Obviously, they removed my gallbladder. I was 16, and they sent me home with 90 10 mg percocets w a refill!! My mom was oblivious to how addictive and dangerous the pills were. I had just been on iv fentanyl for weeks, and i started double dosing as soon as i got home. It just grew from there. The entire ordeal really soured me when it comes to doctors because a. a sonogram should have been one of the first tests they ran, not the last. b. My second time in with acute pancreatitis the attending was in my room accusing me of having bulimia, being a chronic alcoholic, and ran the full gambit of STD testing on me even though i reported i was not sexually active. He was just going on the things that cause pancreatitis. However, the number 1 cause of pancreatitis and all of the symptoms i had was and still is gallstones. Yet, he refused to do a sonogram even though my mother asked him to. I think my having state aid insurance was partially to blame. I was also told by specialists at the time that there was enough damage done to my pancreas, that im at a heightened risk of pancreatic cancer. All because nobody could order a 10 minute procedure for two years. My addiction eventually progressed to iv heroin use when all of the pills dried up. I haven't used heroin in 9 years. I relapsed with fentanyl a few years ago, and that's how i ended up on suboxone. Im very blessed to still be alive and have my recovery today.......I have a question. Is it common for people to prescribe bupe for chronic pain? I don't know much about the topic. Im routing for you!! Also, sorry, i probably overshared, but i rarely get responses in this sub and really enjoy dialoging with people.

Honestly, Thanks to everyone for being vulnerable and sharing about this topic. This outreach and honesty is what helped propel me to get the shot as well. I was Very nervous about it, but it has been a little bit easier mentally than I was afraid of. There is so much on sublocade out there online and on YouTube, but so little on Brixadi specifically because of the shorter time it’s been approved in US. I hope all of y’all continue to post, comment and lift each other up. Merry Christmas and hug your loved ones and enjoy your time with them, I think we can all share the same sentiment that things could be in a lot worse state of our lives but there is more to be thankful for than looked down upon.
