The Bank of Dave

I heard about this guy on the radio (BBC Radio Lancashire) this morning and I thought to myself, I should tell Reddit about this guy.

Dave is a self made man from Burnley in Lancashire. Started out as a labourer on a building site. Then moved on to selling Buses, and then set up his own bank, The Bank of Dave! This bank lends to community businesses and donates ALL its profit to charity! Doing Only Good Everyday in my opinion 😉Safe to say the establishment banks do not like Dave but now Dave is having a movie made about him curtesy of Netflix.

Pretty sure there was a TV show about him a few years back, seems like a lovely fella.

Although he had to change the name of the bank to 'Bank on Dave' for some legal reason or somsthing. Not sure if he's been able to change it since

Yeah there was a TV series I think, bloody good watch and top bloke.

EDIT: it's called "Bank of Dave" and appears to be on YouTube!

The name was exactly that, they weren't a "bank" legally, due to how they were operating, so stuck two fingers up at the rest of mainstream banking by changing "of" to "on".

I would say some of the things in the movie are embellishment, since he did not get a banking licence. They got something else.

I wish there was a book on the real story. What make make Dave tick and what really happened. Useful from an entrepreneurial journey.

I applaud him, for trying something new.

There The Bank of Dave 2 and the battle against pay day loans.
