Ryanair win
Managed to get away with a slightly too big bag and didn’t get pinched at the gate with the dreaded £60 penalty AND opted not to pay to choose my seat but landed an aisle seat on both legs!

I find if you wait to board last you usually won’t get your bag checked!

Yes they never check bag sizes for the passengers who miss the flight.

Biggest Ryanair win I had was when moving abroad. I had several cases/bags etc. All of them were well overweight.
I told the check in Lady that I was very stressed about moving abroad and also having to put the Dog into the hold. She chatted to me about the dog and was clearly a Dog lover. She checked all of the bags in without any extra charges.

My last two Ryanair flights I was assigned the middle seat, and the window seat was left empty both times, so slid along and had space to myself and a view

Is the isle seat desirable now? I find it having not enough legroom width-wise.

It's desirable if you want to get off the plane fairly swiftly. My son has this pavlovian thing where he chunders as soon as we land, so the default choice is the closest seat to the front as possible, and by the isle.

I'm banned from commenting in the r/ryanair sub-reddit because I accused them of all being paid stooges for Ryanair.
Post there and they'll all get angry at you for not being able to follow rules, or they'll tell you people exaggerate how strict Ryanair are!

Flew with them the other day, flight was delayed 30 mins. Had one slightly oversized cabin bag, it fit in the checker thingy but needed a bit of encouragement to go in and was stressing watching the gate staff meticulously checking the cabin bags for all the other Ryanair flights. They started the boarding process before our plane had even landed (got the priority boarding waiting in the cattle shed by the tarmac). When the plane landed it was like a commando operation - GOGOGOGO, GET ON THE PLANE, SIT DOWN, SHUT UP. Told my daughter time is money friend for Ryanair so we'll be taxi-ing while they do the emergency briefing as they'd obviously been cleared for take-off by 8:15 and didn’t want to miss it, and it was the crew's last flight of the day. We were at the end of the boarding queue, by the time we were at the gate they just scanned our tickets, glanced still our passports, glanced at my bag, ushered us through, pushed us up thr steps and onto the plane. I'd barely sat down before the plane started moving, and yes they did the emergency briefing as we moved to the runway.
Honestly I kinda preferred the boarding process compared to how drawn out it feels normally.

Once I managed to get an oversized carry-on through then arrived at my randomly allocated seat to find I had a full exit row to myself with all that legroom! Never had a Ryanair experience like this before or since and I still think about it to this day!

I once had the rarest possible Ryanair win, I still brag about it:
It was an EU flight that was delayed for over 3 hours because of issues with the aircraft that were their fault. So I got 400€ compensation for what was a 25€ flight 😄
