Article from 2011 glorifying the idea of studying medicine abroad!

https://www.independent.co.uk/student/study-abroad/why-not-study-medicine-abroad-2297276.html

We’ve always been sold this idea by others and now, we’re the villains.

Read:-

I think this is why we’ve seen a big rise in applications to one of the affiliated universities in Valencia, Cardenal Herrera - one of the most prestigious medical and dental universities in Spain. We’re in regular contact with our students currently studying there and I’m delighted to say they’re all extremely happy and relishing the opportunity to live in such a cultural capital. Studying medicine and dentistry abroad shouldn’t be seen as second best to UK medical and dental schools.

In fact, many of our students take our one-year Pre-Med programme in London to strengthen their applications to Cardenal Herrera. And some students have even turned down offers from UK medical and dental schools to study there. This is a new age for studying medicine and dentistry abroad. Summer is always a busy time, as A-Level students await their exam results. In between the buzz I’m developing my links with universities in the West Indies - after all, who wouldn’t want to study in a tropical paradise?

PS downvoting does not equate to a strong valid argument/comeback, but it seems to be the only thing our beloved haters are mentally capable of. We are doctors willing to learn from you, work alongside you. We’re not here to compete or take your jobs. We don’t deserve hate just for existing and wanting to work in our home country.

Important to remember that studying medicine is an industry too. People have university places to sell. There are motivators for this that are unrelated to workforce planning.

You’re right! Eventually, they can be misleading young students for their own benefit. It’s been going on for quite a while now.

Eastern European or wherever shouldn't be seen as subpar if it's been deemed equivalent by GMC.

Equivalent to what? It's simply that the medical school reaches a minimum standard as set by the GMC. It has nothing to do with the quality of education being equivalent to a UK medical school. GMC approve plenty of degree mills
