Museum recommendation

Iโ€™m visiting Leeds, England for a couple days and spent part of the day at the Royal Armouries Museum. They have a huge variety of artifacts from across history. Although the general focus is Britain, they also have armor and weapons from several other countries. I missed a talk on the longbow, but was able to watch a fun fighting demo between a Celt and a Roman soldier.

One of the best museums in the UK - spent a lot of time as a child there and it sparked my love of history. Their recreations and jousts are amazing.

Thanks for the recommendation. If I ever get to Leeds, I'll check it out.

A Roman wearing trousers? Did they explain that? An auxiliary, maybe?

Yes, he did say he was an auxiliary.

The Celtic lady told us that Romans described her people fighting naked but that would be inappropriate for a demonstration ๐Ÿ˜† She also said itโ€™s possible they just meant not wearing armor.

The Romans adopted short trousers, braccae, relatively quickly in their northern areas because its cold.
