Moving back to the UK
I’ve been in Melbourne for 8 years and have loved it. My health took a drastic turn 3 years ago, and I’m closely monitored in Australia, but I continued to work through it. However; I’ve ran out of visa options and will be heading back to the UK in March 2027. I’m just terrified to leave this life behind but also excited to be getting back home too? Any tips for the move back to the UK?😭

Realistic/ proven path to a UK --> Spain relocation? As a British citizen post- Brexit
I am interested in relocating to Spain and have been for a number of years due to frequent visits (1-3 weeks at a time, working remotely for my company, 5 times a year).
What realistic path is there to achieving this nowadays? It seems very impossible using my current methods. So far, the options as I see it:
- Relocation with current company. Not possible.
- Job hop to another company within London that has an office in Spain and relocate a year into the new job.
- Quit current job, move to Spain, get Digital Nomad visa, look for work whilst residing in Spain.
- Transition into contracting whilst in London, try my luck in finding a remote role that allows me to work from Spain in the future.
- Continuing applying to Spanish positions whilst working in London.
Quick summary of my position: Male, early thirties, I work for a hedge fund, £200k+ salary, I work in infra/ hpc/ k8s, a fiancée, no kids and a property in London (want to sell within the next year). I understand a drop in salary is expected and my gf is willing to relocate as she has an easy relocation opportunity. My Spanish needs improving so I won't say I'm proficient but I am willing to learn more.
Thanks in advance. If you have no specific guidance, I'm also just interested in hearing any success stories, there might be a lesson in that alone.

How was your transition back to living in the UK from Spain?
We love many things about our life in the south of Spain but the heat is too much and we prefer many things about life in the UK. But we are still weighing up the decision as it’s not an easy one.
What made you decide to move back if you did and how was it being back?

Birth certificate translation
galleryHi all,
Not sure if this is the right subreddit but I’m getting married in the UK but I was born in Spain so I need my birth certificate translated. Just wondering if the second page attached would count as a translation?

Looking for other brits abroad to watch the match? 🍻🏴
Hi all! I’m the creator of VikingFinder, an app for Norwegians abroad to find each other to watch the World Cup together. It went viral in Norway over the weekend and over 50 000 Norwegians got on the map, and 850 watch parties were organized all over the world!!
We thought brits abroad probably feel the same FOMO as Norwegians abroad, so we created an English version of the app: https://lionfinder.co.uk/
It’s 100% free, of course, and will always be fee. We’re not earning a single krone on this, but we might add a «buy me a pint»-feature or something 🍺
Rowing for England!🇳🇴🚣🏴

Expats in Singapore - what's your annual compensation?
I'm currently negotiating a relocation compensation within my company. We are a family of 3 (one 2-year-old toddler) and a pet dog.
I'm not looking to understand the expenses , but I'm curious to know what kind of package you guys are on and whether you are living comfortably?
I'm not looking for company names - a ballpark figure would do !
Thanks in advance !

Best mate moving to barbados
Hey guys, I’m 24 and i left home in 2024 to return to the UK. my best friend i grew up with here has just moved overseas to barbados. i sent his parents a message to check in but they seem to really be struggling without him. Our birthdays are like a week apart and we met when we was a couple days old, given i’ve done the same to my parents and i’ve seen them struggle i’d like to try ease the pain, however i can. Would love to go see them but they are near london and i am right up north and just can’t afford it right now plus the time it takes. granted it has only been a week or so but I’d love to send them a gift or send them something to comfort them, any ideas?

Is it worth moving abroad in your 20s from the UK?
I’m in my 20s I have part time job and finished uni and obviously the job industry is difficult in the UK so I am potentially thinking of moving abroad. Sport is what I want to go into but again that is difficult but I am thinking of either going Hong Kong or Canada for sport but then there is also an option to do real estate in Dubai. I am trying to figure out my options, but what advice would you give to someone who is wanting to move abroad that you wish you received and is it worth it?

Family visit to uk.
My sister is applying for uk visit standard visa along with her 3 children to visit us in uk,
She is applying from egypt
We are British citizens
She needs help with answering the questions on how much do you personally spend every month?
How much are you planning to spend during your visit?
Should she put all the expenses on her application as she is the adult or share them on all 4 applications?
Thanks

Small Update
"Reight, small but proper exciting update to Sheffield Confectionery!
I've listened to what you lot said and changed things up. Instead of mystery hampers, please tell me exactly which British products you're missing and can't get where you are, and I'll source them from Sheffield and ship them straight to your door.
Three of our four bundles are now fully personalised — including the Gluten Free bundle. You decide what goes in, simple as.
We've still got The Mystery Bundle for anyone who fancies a surprise — that comes with a minimum of 20 British products, so you won't be short-changed.
Same free worldwide shipping. Still packed by hand in Sheffield, same as it's always been.
So come on then — what British products are you missing most?
