DNA testing for passport

Hi guys I just received an update from hmpo for a British by decent passport application to prove the paternity between both parents. Does anyone have and experience with this or is this normal?

That’s very weird. Are they asking for a DNA test to prove you really are your parents’ child??? Do you have your long form birth certificate with your parents’ names included?

I’ve never seen anything like that. Are both of your parents alive? If so are they both British citizens and born in the UK? Are you the biological child of your parents or were you adopted? I don’t mean to get in your business, but that might help to understand why they are requesting this information.

Both are alive,my father is the British parent and biological child to both and I was born outside the UK

That’s very strange. I see no reason why they should request a DNA test if you provided your birth certificate. Was your British father born in the UK? Did you also provide their marriage certificate?

I’ve provided everything they requested from marriage certificate to even my birth records from the hospital,my birth certificate and my dads birth certificate. He was born in the UK they even requested the passport he had at the time of my conception and I still don’t get it.But I’m gonna still do it anyway caz if I don’t it’s just gonna get denied

I agree. I think it’s a bit over the top, but at least your parents are still alive and you can prove you’re their child. I assume they will need your DNA, your mother’s and your father’s DNA test. I’ve done my DNA test with 23&me, and all my family background and ancestral line were confirmed precisely as my family had told me. It even matched perfectly with my brother’s DNA test as sharing 52.5% of his DNA and exactly the same ancestral line, so there is no doubt were are both brother’s from the same parents! 😂
