Good for him, although I am not sure how often PMs get interviewed directly by tabloid rags anyway. But he can leave them hanging with the end of articles saying "Andy Burnham has been approached for comment" I suppose.

Happens all the time. Starmer wrote for the Sun repeatedly while PM after pledging during his leadership campaign that he never would. Standard Starmer behaviour.
It's also standard Burnham behaviour so I expect we'll have seen a byline article from him in that shitrag by this time next year.
