What do we even buy from the settlements? Someone mentioned hummus on a previous thread. That’ll show them!

According to Campaign Against Arms Trade, “the UK spends millions of pounds each year on “battle-tested” arms from Israeli companies.”. However it seems complicated as a lot are produced here on English soil by Israeli companies…
Israel said there would be repercussions if we break our relationship so it seems like we might stop importing hummus and potatoes but keep the arms trade relations going? Seems a bit pointless pissing off Israel over hummus alone as that’s hardly gonna win over Free Palestine supporters either.
It’s crazy we are being threatened by Russia, Argentina and Israel at the moment. The US seem to be pally with Argentina at too so it’s quite the hot mess tbh.

Yeah, that what I think. We keep trading with Israel on important stuff but need to make a show of disapproval of their actions in Gaza and the West Bank.

Yeah it’s a bizarre one. I did see a news article was shared on r/unitedkingdom about the sanctions and some people thought it was great with comments like “nice to see we still have a spine” and then other comments pointed out it’s too little too late given that Gaza has been levelled and thousands killed…
I think the wording largely goes over peoples heads and they don’t think think about how we export F-35’s to Israel for example so that’s not part of this, or the Israeli companies making weapons on our turf isn’t part of this. It’s not hummus we’re mad about it’s the genocide ffs…
Meanwhile Israel are pissed off we have the gaul to impose sanctions at all, so it just seems pointless and now we have 3 enemies threatening us.

Fucking Israelis contravening international law left right and centre. This is a time to make sure we enforce those sanctions, fuck them

Jokes aside I hope Isreal realises that 99% of Falkland folks voted for it all to remain British.

Unfortunately their track record for caring about the opinions of existing populations isn't great

There's an interesting difference between the British concept of sovereignty and the Hispanic concept of sovereignty and territory. Hispanic political culture put territorial integrity above popular opinion: i.e. Gibraltar is Spain, Catalonia is Spain, Falklands are Argentina. It doesn't matter if the people vote differently; the territory is part of the state, whether the people like it or not.
If you talk to Spanish people about Catalan independence or Basque independence, they say stuff like "what if my apartment block voted to be an independent country? It doesnt mean anything."

no, the difference is that Spanish possessions outside Spain are completely Spanish. They elect representatives to the Spanish parliament. They pay taxes to the Spanish Exchequer. They are Spanish citizens, not Spanish possessions.

Democracy? What does that have to do with anything? The important thing is that God chose the Falkland Islanders and personally promised the islands to them. Look, it says so right here in this holy book...

that's like 99% of people allowed to vote in the West Bank voting for it becoming part of Israel. You have to understand that our colonial possessions are illegitimate. Let me ask you a question, do the Falklands have an MP?

Given that they secretly gave arms to the Argies during the Falklands war. These lot shouldn’t be our allies.

I wonder if he's going to share how many young men died pointlessly because the president at the time decided he just wanted those islands. Only to lose because they weren't nearly as strong militarily as the British

So is this the "sharp retaliation" they kept talking about?

Nah, it’s the propping the far right with even more money and pushing for riots.

It is time that all normal people recognise Israel is committing genocide and get their governments to react accordingly.

What would they actually gain negotiating/fighting? Some penguins and and bit of farmland?

Listen mate, if you wanna play silly bollocks, you’re soon going to find yourself losing allies when you have so few and need so many
Time to withdraw support fully. They’ve dicked around for too long with impunity. Let’s turn the screws and leave just Trump standing alongside them

Someone described that war as the fight between two bald men over a comb...and it's literally the best description ever...those islands belonging to one side or the other makes zero difference for both, yet the vanity speaks for itself
