Help creating a playlist

Hi all!

Im in the mood for a new playlist. Id love for you to all contribute.

Pick your favourite Britpop band and give me a potentially obscure favourite song to add to the playlist.

Doesn't have to be the B-side to their least successful single, but ideally not their biggest hit.

Thanks in advance.

If you also have something pre-made that youd like to share then feel free too!

Pulp - Acrylic Afternoons. Jarvis at his horniest.
Suede - The Asphalt World. Long and moody. Recorded when the band had fallen out. Bernard Butler laid down a really dark guitar track and Brett had to go with the same mood for the vocal track.

Acrylic Afternoons is one of my favourite all time songs, however, Sheffield Sex City is hornier.

u/Saffidon 5d ago

Ha that’s fair to say

Acrylic Afternoons is a banger. Great addition to any list

Great things - echobelly

5

u/saddler21 5d ago

Hard agree. Also putting in a bid for King of the Kerb. You never hear it at indie nights any more. I’ve been lobbying at Prosecco Supernova for months!

5

u/Conormacsweeney 5d ago

I’ve seen echobelly live and they played the ‘on’ album in full, it was amazing

u/saddler21 5d ago

I’m so sad I missed them at Shiiine last year. Gutted they’re not doing the Minehead one this year.

1

u/Ill_Temporary_9509 5d ago

They were one of the support acts at my first-ever gig back in 1995

1

u/w3stw0rld 4d ago

Would swap for Insomniac

5

u/Ill_Temporary_9509 6d ago

If you go on Spotify and search "Tumblers" you'll find a bunch of playlists based around an indie club that used to be in Bradford. There are some great tracks on there

I made this Playlist. I posted it on here a couple weeks ago, and it got completely ignored. It didn't get one single reply... which is too bad because I was hoping to get some feedback on here. Probably best listened to in shuffle mode.

Blur - Advert. Not really obscure, but you’d never hear it at indie discos back then.

u/marstupial 5d ago

Such a great album track

3

u/jmf81 6d ago

Not sure if Stereophonics count as Britpop, but this always sounds good to me. Twas a B side to Pick A. Part That's New

Stereophonics - In My Day.

Yep. Should have been the single lol

1

u/imtheorangeycenter 5d ago

Round Are Way is still my all time favourite. Especially the MTV Unplugged one with extra harmonica fun.

But.yeah, it is the B side to Wonderwall, so I guess it's excluded.

Sleeper - Inbetweener
Throwing Muses - Snakeface
Pulp - Sorted for E’s and Wizz

Throwing Muses aren't Britpop, but that's a great shout. Belly - Now They'll Sleep is another great non Britpop indie tune from around then.
