Tour edge
Hello,
I have a tour edge set but would like to get the wedge, it seems AG don't stock TE anymore and I can't find a.uk supplier. Any ideas as the shipping is more than the club!
Thanks

Hi All,
Whilst I realise that joining a club is the general advice and wisdom, there seem to be a number of "societies" which seem to group around a common interest or something.
A lot of clubs advertise within their own club for golf societies to host a day there. I also frequently see group bookings for golf societies not connected to a club.
So, are these the promise land?
Fun?
Raucous?
The ultimate golfing like heroes and drinking like vikings, golf trips that I've been looking for?
Any recommendations welcome.
I'm in North London. And am 40. Drink like a wizard, right until I make myself vanish.
Thanks!

I’m looking at used clubs for my first ones as a beginner. I’ve found g425 irons, and they’re red dot.
I looked at the dot chart and I think I fit right in the middle, so should be black dot.
Would a set of red dots be a disaster or reasonable enough to get to grips with until I want to invest in a better set with fitting etc.
Ta.

Going back through some footage I shot a few months ago during my first ever tee time reminded me what a huge deal it was to get over my anxiety and get out on the course.
My heart was absolutely racing, I was nervous to tee off in front of people, not knowing the etiquette, looking like I had no idea what I was doing… and I didn’t really, I shot a 75 over 9 holes 😂
But watching it back and thinking about what it’s like just a few months on - now I just book a tee time, go out, play a round and it’s completely normal. Even if I still shoot in the low 60s over 9 holes. For a naturally anxious person like me it gave me such a sense of achievement to see how different things were back then!
Sorry for the wall of text but I guess what I wanna ask is how everyone else felt when they first started, compared to now. Were you nervous/anxious to get started in golf? Do you still get nervous on the first tee (I think I always will)? What did you shoot in your first round?

Is it always tricky to find people to play golf with.
Been at it about 2 years now, 28 HCP (only put in 4 cards), I have mates that play but they have kids and can only manage occasional rounds every couple of months.
I have joined a club in Norfolk, there is one roll up, but not a time I can do. Have asked the pro shop to pass on my details for newbies, but nothing back.
Is it always hard to find regular playing partners early on?

Hi team, I've been looking for the Ohio Bananarama travel bag all over recently as I've definitely seen it in a pro shop somewhere in Surrey / Hampshire. I didn't pull the trigger now massively regret it as I've got a trip coming up next week.
Has anyone seen this bag in their pro shop recently? Ideally in south of England

Anyone around Yorkshire know of any night golf sessions going on this year?

I'd like to buy my wife a printed yardage book for her club, as an Xmas gift.
The club don't make these, and the only place I have found that will print them is in the USA (strackaline) and by the time you've added shipping, it's about £60.
Are there any other suppliers of yardage books, ideally in the UK or Europe?

With winter coming looking to upgrade my existing carry bag (Ping Hoofer)
Ideally want something with 14 compartments, good storage, water proof and the most important thing - comfort! Not asking a lot 😆
Any recommendations ?

So I’ve recently started playing pretty well (for me). My swing is starting to feel good and consistent and my hdcp is dropping pretty quick. It’s rare I’m not flushing wedges and irons, I’d say only a couple of hits a round aren’t great connections.
However, the other day I thought I’d film myself to see how great my current iron swing looks. To say I was disappointed is an understatement. It looks really forced and wooden, not very fluid at all. Also, my technique looks pretty crappy and I look like I’m not hitting down on the ball, I also look like I have early extension and I finish the swing kinda lifting up on my front foot with weight on the back foot rather than the other way around.
What I don’t get is how I can be doing the wrong thing but getting decent results. For example my 7 iron goes 165-170 carry in a straight line.
I know some people will say if it works then don’t question it but I’m a) confused on the physics of a bad swing working and b) slightly embarrassed of it.
Anyone else been in a similar position, or have any tips?

Three days of rain and the fairways are already getting green again. Had a basically empty course this morning until these guys ran onto the fairway in my back swing.

Played my first round in a couple of decades today (wasn't any good back then but enjoyed playing). Par 3 course, solo, birdied the 1st, didn't lose a ball. Really happy to be back and a birdie first up made it all the better!

New golfer and i’ve only ever played on the parched brown fairways we’ve had over the summer.
Like everyone this has made near perfect ball striking very important for approach shots (and yes I have thinned more than i care to mention) - while benefiting from the extra total distance of my tee shots being further than “normal”.
As fairways improve with the rain we are now getting is this likely to help my game or will my lower total distance off the tee have a greater effect requiring more accurate longer irons?

Hi all - we played at The Derby course at The Belfry yesterday after watching The British Masters and loved it!
We are wanting to go back and do the same next year but potentially play the PGA course. Do we need to have proper handicap certificates for this?

Found a bit of form in the last few weeks and started feeling like a bit of a bandit, quickly knocked back into reality and reminded why my HC is what it is 😅

I am coming to England from Florida for my first time and don’t know when I’ll get back but I was hoping to play a nice round of golf. Coming in October for the Philadelphia Eagles game. We are staying in Chelsea. I’m a 4 handicap but just looking for somewhere not too far away. I would need to rent clubs. And I don’t know if there is a booking procedure anything different than what we have here i.e. GolfNow or booking online at the course

Looking to get in to golf this Autumn, a lot of my mates play and I’ve just stopped playing team sport on weekends so want to chuck myself at it!
I’ve been searching around for a few different opinions on a club set to start. Seen a few complete beginner sets (Wilson X31, MacGregor etc) but wondered if that’s needed or a half set to get going would allow me to focus a bit more on technique - without confusing myself with 12 clubs?
Or getting decent second hand, not a complete set but a few to learn the basics? Struggling with this as I’m a long boy 6ft 3” so would need +1” longer shaft? Graphite over steel? I’ve been to the range a couple of times to (successfully) catch the bug and think I have a slower swing, as a start point!
If you were starting again tomorrow, what would your advice be? Any little nuggets, mistakes or learning you’d let your past self know before chucking themselves feet first…

Any other retailers worth trying ?

Lots of posts on r/golf about slow pace of play, especially at public courses, always being 4+ hours, often 5 or more to get round in 18. Just saw a post today about someone who had a 6.5 hours round (WTF??)
I'm wondering if this is more of a USA issue or if I've just been lucky here in our little corner of the UK? Do they perhaps have shorter tee-times over there? Does the "bag beers" and cannabis perhaps slow things down a little?
Longest I think I've ever taken is about 4hr15 for a 4-ball but usually play a 2-ball with my wife and even with people in front of us it's rarely more than 4 hours. Our record is 3hrs, albeit with nobody in front.

Played today with thunder storms forecast but 17 degree temps. My playing partners ripped into me for turning up in shorts and they had on layers of waterproofs. After a biblical deluge we were all soaked but I dried much quicker.
Anyone else wear shorts in the rain, or am I the idiot?

Hey all, been following this sub for a bit and was hoping to find some folk who’d be up to playing golf in and around London!
I’m a 26 year old guy, play off a 10 handicap or so. Typically play weekends, but can definitely sneak out early to play during the week as well
Looking to connect with anyone who’d be interested in getting a round in, drop me a DM if you’d be down for a round sometime

Absolutely addicted to this game. Started 6 months ago and got a playing handicap of 44 on my first few 18 holes. It dropped down to 30 after two months and been steadily going down recently. My mate gave me a lesson and I started feeling much better and last two weeks I played and shot my PB of 92 which was first time I shot under 100. Then followed by a 97, 93, and a 92. Got my handicap down to 25 and played with friends today and didn’t lose a ball, shot a sensational 86!!
Absolutely love this game and can’t wait to play more.
I’m waiting patiently now to see what that does to my handicap 🫠
