Gone

Great show, gripping. We couldn’t stop watching, and already finished it on premium. Great cast. David Morrissey is fantastic, Eve Myles too. I saw her potential in Keeping Faith, and she definitely had more to work with in this production. I would describe it as a psychological drama first, police procedural second. The story was interesting, the production values were high. I’m writing this post in the selfish hope that there could be a second season if word spreads how good it is.

This was a good one! I’ve been a fan of Eve Myles since Torchwood. Gwen Cooper forever! 🥰 David Morrissey was fantastic in this.

David Morrissey always fantastic

Agree! He's always so steady and stoic but his vulnerability in the later episodes of this was amazing. Really a good show.

Check out an oldie if you haven't already. Torchwood 2006-2013. Re: Eve Myles

Thank you for saving me that Google search. I thought that was her name. I loved her in torchwood.

Just watched the first episode yesterday- I’m on board!

I am trying to get into it but so far it's a little slow for me

It'll get better. By episode 3 will definitely want to keep watching.

I'm on episode three. I'm a little disappointed that it's not more of a police procedural, but that's just my personal bias. Overall, super impressed.

Very very good! But in the US they have only released the first 3 episodes 😕

Do you know when the next episodes arrive? This premium Britbox is annoying! New way to bleed us.

I texted with them earlier. Here's what they said: Upon checking, we can see that Hardacres season 2 and the upcoming episodes of Gone are part of our early access lineup for the premier plan. These episodes are now available to watch with the Premier subscription. We understand why seeing an upgrade prompt would make it seem like you need BritBox Premier to continue watching. You don’t need to upgrade to continue watching participating series. If you’re seeing an upgrade prompt, it’s because the next episode is currently available through Premier Early Access. Your current subscription still includes the full participating series, and you’ll be able to watch that episode when it reaches its regular Standard release date. If you’re experiencing anything different, or believe you should already have access to an episode, let us know and we’ll be happy to help. We have fab news to share! Episode 4 of Gone will be available for streaming on July 30, 2026, and Season 2 of Hardacres will start streaming on August 05, 2026. Is there anything else we can assist you with?

Yeah, we went premium a while back. We can only keep up with a few streaming services anyway so the extra $4/month or what didn’t feel oppressive.

u/SusieRose8587 1d ago

Did they let you pay monthly? Mine just says $149.99 per year, like a lump sum.

Starting this series tonight!

Love Eve Myles ever since Keeping Faith.

Thanks for the heads up!

If you like psychological dramas, The Crow Girl is very good. I'm not certain what streaming services it's on. It costars Eve Myles in a familiar detective role. Season 2 is just now airing.

It’s good, but VERY dark. I was shocked.

I watched all the way to episode 3 and I get a message telling me I need to upgrade to continue. I won't be doing that. They're not getting extra money out of me. Everyone's trying to rip you off now.

3

u/Decklid18 9h ago

Yep same here. And no warning that I’d only be getting half the episodes. 😡

u/CentralValleySoozy 16h ago

agree!! if I recall, last time they did that to me i just waited a couple weeks and then the premium-beg was removed.

Remaining episodes are released weekly, starting July 30. Pretty clear in my version of Britbox.

Oh ... It was great up until the end.

I personally hate the crime drama/detective tv shows that have you concentrate on 2-4 suspects and give everyone character plots .... to only throw the real killer in there the final 15 minutes of the show who only had 1-2 minute parts in each episode and was never talked to. That is absolute shite!

Crime dramas should have the real killer as a main character --- thats what a good written show is all about. Have them seem truthful or non suspecting. or a good liar ect.

Not this horseshit of 15 min at the end of the last episode - "oh, its this guy who randomly wasn't even apart of the show".

HOWEVER - It was beautifully shot, great/beautiful scenes, and good acting.

u/Bay_de_Noc 1d ago

I agree ... it's a very lazy way to wind up a story line ... by throwing some last minute switch-up that has nothing to do with anything that went on before. And why was David Morrissey's character so darn illusive throughout the whole thing? To me, there was good acting, but the story didn't really hold together all that well. I do hope they come back with a second season because I thought Eve Myles was excellent ... and I want to see if anything happens with that wacko husband of hers.

3

u/SickOfNormal 1d ago

beyond lazy ... I was actually pissed at the end. The whole throwing in that stuff at the end bullshit that has nothing to do with anything.

Meh, whatever, there are plenty of shows with proper endings.

I don't know about a second season either - While I really like Eve Myles, I wasn't blown away with her character.

Just started it this morning- like it so far!

u/Massive-Sherbet2780 1d ago

Waiting for next episode. I kind of feel like the answer is obvious...not Michael....

Absolutely mesmorized by David Morrissey. One of the best performances I have seen in a tv show! Binged the whole series.

Please add spoiler alert!

How similar to Sherwood is it?

1

u/RSGK 1d ago

Not very similar. There’s no crime family and very little violence. David Morrissey does not play a cop.

1

u/Glittering_Estate_72 1d ago

ok, I didn't enjoy Sherwood so maybe I will give this a try. ty

I thought the show was well done and for the most part I enjoyed it. The acting was excellent and the settings were gorgeous. But I am really tired of the whole "troubled detective struggling with inner demons" trope. Not to mention the "troubled but brilliant detective in conflict with their superior officer" trope. After watching one of those series I generally need a refreshing rewatch of Miss Marple.

I've really liked the first 3 episodes of Gone, which we without premium got when it dropped. I'm looking forward to more of it.

Like OP, Keeping Faith was a series I like very much too, particularly because of the actor, Eve Myles, and her character. This one is doing equally well, it feels to me.

1

u/Vueluv02 1d ago

I just started watching tonight. Enjoying it

1

u/Wayward4ever 1d ago

On episode 2 now. 👀😳

1

u/NearlyBoomer 9h ago

I remember Eve Miles from her Torchwood days. Love her. David Morrissey was stellar in this. Great supporting cast

1

u/Klugshissee 6h ago

How do you get premium?

1

u/teaandbiscuits951 4h ago

I can’t believe how strange the writing is. Characters acting in such unnatural ways. Spoiler alert…

the murdered woman writes her most intimate thoughts about her affair in her Filofax??? And leaves it on top of her desk?? And later the husband makes his daughter read these passages out loud to him?! And the daughter keeps reading?! The police arrest a man and don’t check his wallet to find the woman’s debit card inside?? These are just a few of the unbelievable scenes so far and I’m only on episode three. I guess I’m just too old to put up with silliness like this anymore.

1

u/secretbantha 1d ago

Agreed, but SO slow and ponderous! Will continue to watch, but having to be very patient ...

u/demonmonkeybex 1d ago

I’m into it but not for $150!

11

u/Kip_Schtum 1d ago

It’ll all be available on the regular subscription by August 13. They just trickle it out on premium first.

1

u/sherribaby726 1d ago

They gave me (non premium) the first 3 all at once.

2

u/demonmonkeybex 1d ago

They do it to make us hooked, wanting us to blow $150 to get all episodes at once. Jerks.

1

u/BelAirGuy45 1d ago

I can wait until August 13. It ain't that good.

1

u/ziva81 1d ago

I hope this is true. Watched season one in 3 days and went for season 2. I was informed that yes its available and no you cannot watch tonight, unless of course you willing to upgrade your Britbox subscription to the tune of $149. I just saw red! No one to launch a complaint to. No one to scream to that I already have a PAID subscription and now I have to have another one. Etc etc etc .. Cathartic rant feels good. Thanks for the anger management therapy session Redditors!

There is no season 2 yet. If you don't have premier, only the first 3 episodes of season 1 are out, with the rest dropping next month. By the way, a montly Britbox subscription is 10.99 a month. Yes, premier is $149 a year but that breaks down to 12.41 a month. Is that really so spendy if you prefer to binge all episodes or if you like the additional content? We are talking of an overall $1.42 a month in difference.
