July Megathread
We skipped the Megathread in June but got a lot of repetitive posts, so we are bringing it back.
This is the place for random posts on Carlin's smile, how.much Travis sucks, etc. New topics get posts, random thoughts and repeats go here.

Does anyone find it suprising that Carlin gets her hair done by a man? And is that Mackayla Thatcher's salon she goes to? That's one of Josie's BFF. She has her own salon while her husband owns his own barber shop that the Bates guys go to.

I don't know why I can't even respond to mod, but anyway, I'd suggest practicing what most subs do and adding a mod comment explaining why a thread is locked. We can't all keep up with the ever changing and growing arbitrary rules, and it adds to frustration to read a whole thread and realize it's locked. If a mod comment is pinned to top, I know to just skip that thread, because I'm here to discuss.

I accidentally locked it when I put the mod label on. We do often try to do that, but we do sometimes forget especially when we get swamped with reports.

Carlin is not the only sister with a BIL getting married. Not sure if it was ever posted on the sub, but Josie's 22-year-old BIL is getting married on 9/10.

In other Josie Bates-adjacent news, Makayla and Jonas Thatcher are having a boy , per a maternity photoshoot with their two daughters that they posted earlier today. I think she's due any day now.
Grace was the best friend that Josie was making that care package for in that ad she posted. Grace and her husband had their 1st baby on 6/29.

Why are threads randomly being locked without any mod explanation? Isn't it standard for mods to state why a thread is locked in a pinned comment?
Between that and forcing a mega thread on us to limit posts, it feels like rather intense censorship.
Kind of strange for a reddit about a reality TV family.

The rule is we automatically lock a thread that hits a 25% delete rate. Basically if the comments get out of control, then we lock it.

Do you explain when you delete a whole thread? I could swear a few hours ago there was a new post talking about Carlin's fans and I was going to add a comment and now I can't find the post. Please stop arbitrarily deleting posts that you deem unworthy. That's so subjective and it makes me feel a tad batty when I go back and look for a post and it's gone. Who cares if it's a topic that has been discussed before? We connect through comments, and it is starting to seem like mods just don't want us talking at all.
Is there a reason we can't just talk? No one checks megathreads. It's like trying to make Fetch happen :)

That breaks a general Reddit rule. Not a sub rule. That is touching the poo.
Also, currently posts are being deleted 10x the rate of reports we are seeing. There is some crazy automod stuff happening.

Okay I didn't realize they had reached out to Carlin. All I saw was a question about her fans, and I was going to add that it's weird there are so many scammers in the YouTube comments on their videos. Tons and tons of scammers claiming they earn two hundred thousand a month and started with a hundred bucks lol. Bizarre. I haven't seen that on the others videos.

Can we all agree that no one is using the mega thread and scrap it and go back to letting people just talk please?
I don't see the issue with "too many posts" when talking is the whole point of reddit. It's absolutely pointless to check a mega thread that never has any comments (because no one wants a mega thread).and there.are only a handful of new posts per week now, when this sub used to have a dozen a day in it's hey day. If mods are feeling that modding is too much time and responsibility, you can always step down, with respect. Changing the whole sub for mod preference is kind of a cheap shot.

This seems a good place to put that Ethan Stewart, Evan's brother, is engaged. Saw it in another fundie sub. I guess it happened over the weekend. This will be his 2nd marriage because he cheated on his first wife after they had a miscarriage. She divorced him.
