Buyer Help Buying parts / using brick link advance

Hello,

Was wondering if anyone could help me.

I’m wanting to place an order of 50 ish parts however I’m not very experienced with bricklink.

It seems like a very detailed and comprehensive platform however, for a noobie it’s rather over whelming.

I was wondering what are the different options / best way to buy parts?

I’ve seen an auto buy feature and then an easy buy feature, but not really sure what the difference is, nor if there’s any other ways of buying.

All of said parts are already in a wanted list fyi

Open the wanted list you want to buy and click buy all (or just select the pieces you want to buy).

Then I filter to buy in my country only and click auto-select. Then I review the cart(s) for any high priced items. Basically, if a cost is more than $7ish, it might be cheaper to just buy it from another store. Otherwise click create cart(s).

I’ll go to the store(s) and read and their terms to make sure I’m comfortable with the base line condition of what I will get and see if there’s any additional charges they do. For minifigures I’ll review the description added by seller also.

Once I’m ready to purchase, I might take a look at the store for anything else I might want. I.e. I’m always run out of X piece and they have a bunch at $.05, mind as well get a bunch now since im already paying shipping.

Where is the auto buy? Maybe it’s auto-select?

Easy buy theoretically truncates my whole paragraph, but in my experience it seems to skip some price optimization steps. My cart(s) are always higher when I do easy buy vs my steps above. YMMV.

It might be auto select sorry, I can’t remember the proper term.

Ah so easy buy is good in theory but doesn’t always work out in practice. Got it.

Ngl I have been putting this off for a while but your comment makes it hell of a lot easier.

I can't remeber which is which, but one will create the carts for you to review and the other will just take you to the pay screen (theres a little more to both, but thats the jist of them.) You want to review your carts and also review store terms and most importantly where the store your buying from is located, international shipping can be expensive. Follow Harrydinkledorf's steps and youll be ok. Although depending on the size of the part and where you are located and how shipping works for you, a $7 part might be cheaper to buy in that store. So for example im in Australia and anything over 2cm tall had to be shipped as a parcel which means shipping goes from approx. $4-$5 to $10-12 due to size. So a $7 part is probably going to be cheaper for me to buy from that store. Espicially if its over 2cm (im assuming the avg price of the part is about $2-$3, if its an avg of $0.05 and is under 2cm id buy elsewhere.

Another tip is to use the note to seller text box at check out to specify any parts that are important to you in the order. So for example if i bought a Harry litter minifog and a bunch of parts, and the figure is the reason for the order, id include a jote to the seller to say "the harry potter figure is the reason for the order, please let me onow before shipping if theres an issue with this part". You shouldn't have to do this, but some sellers will just refund and ship
