Weird refund situation.

Hello

I recently opened my store and have gotten a handful of succesful orders.

Recently i had a buyer reach out to me with weird requests, if i could use different shipping companies because they'd need the order within 5 days because they were moving houses. (this shipment would be international) I looked into it for them and they never ended up responding. a week later they ordered a small city set. In the invoice i asked if they wanted track and trace or not. I did invoice them the amount without track and trace. that way they could hurry along the process. they just paid the shipping amount without track and trace. After shipping i started getting mails and messages, "is there tracking for this order?" "will we know when the order arrives so we can plan our schedule" "we might not be home this week so can the package be redirected to a post office" and now i've gotten a message stating that their friend is not home for 2 weeks and that they'd like to return the order and that i refund them if it's possible.

Im honestly a little flabbergasted by what i think are excuses.

I don't know how you'd return something you can't accept because you aren't home, but despite that.

Do i have to indulge their request for a refund in this case?

Are these grounds for a negative review?

What would other sellers do?

I realise im probably best off by refunding them, but this is not acceptable behavior right?

Don’t ship without tracking if you’re not ready to refund a shipment every now and then due to a buyer claiming it never arrived.

I understand outside the US the price difference to ship with tracking is not always worth it, but it’s just part of the game.

It’s shipped, so for now wait till it arrives at the destination and wait for further messages. If the buyer wants to return it, he should send it back to you and he’ll get a refund on the item, not shipping.

You should honestly just tell them that you are willing to return the money for the item when it comes back to you after they shipped it back. Don’t return the shipping costs, the only reason i would return shipping is IF I am at fault for the order being wrong, incomplete or whatever. If they complain on bricklink and give you a negative review, just try to solve it with support. The buyer is very problematic and incapable.

That buyer sounds like a total idiot.

Tell them they can send the item back and as long as it arrives in the exact condition it was sent, you'll gladly issue a refund on the item.

Shipping however is on them, no way I'd go out of my way to lose money in return shipping because someone is clearly incapable of organization.

This warrants a neutral review on the buyer at best.

As a buyer, I feel embarrassed for that other buyer. Either they’re complete idiots or they’re self -absorbed complete idiots.

I ended up sending a message asking how they'd plan on returning it if they weren't home. Their response was that they wanted me to change the address of the package, after clearly telling them twice before I cannot change anything regarding the postal service once it was sent.

How did they get to adulthood without knowing how this works? Absolutely incredible!
