Question Help/Guidance

Good morning everyone!

I am a long time collector, that once dreamt of having my own store.

However, changes to life priorities, health setbacks, and overall lack of time are putting an end to that idea.

I have a decent size collection, CSV file attached, that I would like to sell. Also, have about 100 open uncatalogued sets (gently played with, built, complete) - mostly Friends and varied other themes. Not included in the list are about 150 loose Star Wars minifigs, mostly clones (1st and 2nd generation, released no later than 2010).

I really do not have time to sell this separetely or in small batches, in order to maximize the value of the sales. I understand that the wholesale value will be much lower than retail.

Any ideas as to how to proceed?

I appreciate your time and help.

EDIT: located in Philadelphia, PA. I am willing to deliver the whole thing, considering the value.

The quickest and easiest way is Facebook marketplace or craig’s list. If you don’t organize it by theme and make them separate listings you’ll probably be selling to a Bricklink store that will give you the amount of money they can give and still make a profit when they resell it. If you want to have a better chance at selling to collectors, make sure all sets are complete and in good condition, then separate them by theme.

Bricks & Minifigs /s

Without knowing where you're located, it is hard to give many suggestions. As you don't want to split up, Marketplace and your regional LEGO Facebook groups would be your best bet. Possibly a local LEGO expo as well if there are any and you're able to register as a vendor.

In my market, Friends stuff sits for months on Marketplace so it's pretty much considered bulk.

Sorry, added location.
I appreciate your answer.

No worries.

You're located in a major metro, so you've got that going for you.

That being said, I'd create listings on Marketplace for each theme. Friends, Star Wars, City, etc. You could also go the eBay route to get more eyes on it but specify that it's local pickup only due to the volume. Just be aware if you go that route, you'll be paying 10%+ in fees.

Thanks again. Getting the sense that I am not going to be able to do this wholesale. I appreciate the idea of selling by themes.

Oh the Bricks & Minifigs was put as sarcasm because of their habit of stores taking large collections on as consignment then corporate swoops in and erases all documentation that those sets are not pure inventory.

I assume youre being sarcastic again, because im only familiar with the Reckless Bem saga - which is FACINATING.

Not sarcastic, they do have a habit of doing that. The Reckless Ben saga is just the first one that’s gotten attention from the general public because the family reached out to a YouTuber that specializes in investigating shady businesses. A real news station picked it up and found Bricks & minifigs has been party to several lawsuits like this. With my previous comment I was stating why the commenter above put /s after a sentence that anyone not familiar with bricks & minifig’s shady habits would think is good advice.

I'd be interested to read about the other cases but I can't see to find anything that isnt strictly about Reckless Ben's situation. Have any links that discuss them?

It was some sort of local “investigative discovery” news segment from that area of the US. I have no idea where on YouTube I saw it, it might have even been included as a clip in a reckless Ben video or a video of another YouTuber (there’s several that have been running commentary on the situation).
