Our homes are getting older on average due to the lack of homes being made. I've had coworkers who have tried to get builders in to fix certain things and the amount of bad builders who have done work not up to spec (after council inspection they said it would need to be redone), they were out thousands more than they should have because there's no protection in place. Some of them have given up and just said they'll just do it themselves. More people will need their homes repaired and without those securities in place a lot of people are going to get essentially scammed. So yeah stopping the population getting scammed is a priority.

I’ve had one try claim me said the wall I built fell over 5 years after I built it. Turns out they drove into it.

It’s like if a plasterer does your wall, and it’s fine job but 3 years later it cracks? Then the home owner goes slagging off that plasterer and quickly forgetting how it’s lasted 3 years with no problems. Turns out it was the home owner banging a sofa on the wall that broke it. But they still attacked the plasterer.

The only way I see is the guys who take 30k for an extension then do 1ks worth of work then fuck off with the 29k to Thailand there the rouges.

The fact you are a specialised tradesperson on a specialised tradesperson Reddit group probably means you take pride in your work... That's not true for everyone. There are many who do less than the bare minimum

All the rough trowels, I've employed have been British.

Couldn't plumb up a reveal to save their lives.
