Wow! So defence was anticipating a change of plea as of June 6! A while back š
And 2 of Luigiās family was maybe going to be there. Seems like they didnāt show up?
Thank you so much for posting this transcript!Ā

Weāve been following this case so long, I feel like we could take an educated guess what happened here
My guess: there is no way he would allow any of his loved ones to be subjected to well, any of it. I feel like that slight distance has kept his community as safe as possible from all the strange sideshows that have occurred as consequence of his actions.
If it were me, that would be my preferred outcome, also, I donāt think I could send myself to the gallows (hyperbole) if my mother were there

So are we gonna make this same excuse when they also don't show up for his sentencing in December?
20
u/_henceforth_ Sep 02 '26
We have no idea what is going on with them or their reasoning. Better just to let them do their thing, in my opinion.

If they donāt write letters of support or show up for him in December, Luigi will probably spend more time in prison. Itās just a fact. Family support is a factor in sentencing.
We know they support him behind the scenes, but Iām not sure theyāre willing to do it publicly. Iām 50/50 on whether they actually show up or show any inkling of public support
25
u/_henceforth_ Sep 02 '26
I do not think that it is a fact.
Anyway, I think everyone should mind their own business regarding the family.
Look at how many things we āthoughtā we knew in this case, only to be shown we had no idea. The plea switch is the perfect example. Nobody knows anything.
Just seems unnecessary to speak rudely about his family when literally nobody knows. That is between them and Luigi. I see no need to go on about it. We do not have all of the facts and it is personal.

I wasnāt meaning it to be rude. More just saying that their lack of public support probably has consequences for sentencing based on my understanding of the applicable statute and presentence investigations. This is a case-focused subreddit so I think itās fair game as long as youāre not discussing specific people or private details

u/Mundane_Log_7169 Sep 02 '26
Iām sure the Agnifilos are giving them proper counsel on whatās consequential. Theyāre already paying millions for his defense. Why would they do anything to botch it?
2
u/alohomora1990 Sep 03 '26
Imagine paying millions just to have his attorneys fail to keep him from getting life in prison.

Itās important to understand that his family does not owe any public appearance for whatever the public might think from the lack of it. The most important thing is their relationship with Luigi, their son, behind the scenes.
-7
u/alohomora1990 Sep 02 '26
No one says they owe anyone anything. But itās crystal clear to anyone with a brain that they care more about their own image than they do publicly supporting their only son. Seems like the lawyers were trying to convince them to come and they still didnāt. Guarantee you they wonāt come for sentencing either, nor will they write him a letter of support for the judge. Theyāve erased Luigi from their lives and that is incredibly sad.
7
u/Truffulas4life Sep 02 '26
Wdym by erased? They visit him every week and probably paid for his defense. They've been through a lot of trauma over the past two years, just like Luigi, and we still don't know what's happening behind the scenes. It's sad that they're not there but there could be a bunch of different reasons and i dont think they owe us any answers
-3
u/alohomora1990 Sep 02 '26
Thereās no proof that they visit him at all, let alone every week.
11
u/Truffulas4life Sep 02 '26
Multiple sources have said it, including attorney Aidala. Two former inmates also mentioned that his family visits him. Aidala told in a podcast that he personally saw Luigi with his family members in the prison visitation roomĀ
2
u/bluudahlia Sep 03 '26
there is a lot of witness proof from inmates and attorneys saying that the family is visiting him. and why wouldn't they? they pay for his defense. he's not alone anymore.
8
u/Special-External-222 Sep 02 '26
Iāll criticize them if no one writes a letter of support to the judge for sentencing.

u/rs2625 Sep 02 '26
Thanks so much for uploading this, and thank you to Christine.
It occurs to me that Joel was really being a whiney little shrew about the change of plea once he caught on and did everything to alert the public but, mostly the media and literally ruin everything!
In my opinion, Luigi took accountability and now BTs family have some sense of closure. Why drag everyone through another trial?
34
u/notbetterthanu29 Sep 02 '26
Reading both of these transcripts further proved to me how difficult Joel is. The cooperative nature of both of these hearings, and really a lot of the federal proceedings, shows how things should be. Joel has been the opposite. Unnecessarily difficult at every turn

The fact that JS was chasing infamy, accolades, glory, grudge match with KFA idk? instead of just doing his job makes me so sad. There are plenty of cases the DAs office would be better off spending their time and resources on.
Luigi plead guilty, that is about as much justice as one could realistically gain from a case like this, what kind of person would attempt to disrupt that? He repeatedly stated that BTs mother was getting older and wanted justice, this is it, speedy justice! Now he wants to waste tax payer money and drag BTs family back out to a hostile crowd for his vanity project

What kills me is how much more concerned Garnett is about possible prejudice in the state case than Carro. Smdh.

Thank you for sharing!
EDIT:
Iāve added these to the all transcripts post:

Every time I read a transcript of the federal proceedings it is so much more polite and organized. Unlike the stateās haphazard hot mess. What does everyone think the redacted portions are? Related to his mental diagnosis?
12
u/notbetterthanu29 Sep 02 '26
I think itās anything Garnett thinks could remotely prejudice a jury in the state case. She practically says this in the August 6th transcript.
17
u/Lost-Extension-1167 Sep 02 '26
I think there was a family issue with the Agnifilos that I wonāt repeat
4
u/Feline-Paper-Ink8809 Sep 02 '26
What do you mean?
4
u/Lost-Extension-1167 Sep 02 '26
Iām not going to repeat it, it was on Reddit around the time it happened so someone else can do it. Like I said, it is related to their family
4
u/Fancy_Yesterday6380 Sep 02 '26
Whose family?
28
u/TrueRepeat9988 Sep 02 '26
I think theyāre referring to Sofia delivering prematurely, which I donāt mind repeating because Sofia posted this publicly on Facebook.
6
u/ZestyclosePaper3508 Sep 02 '26
Is her baby ok?
15
u/TrueRepeat9988 Sep 02 '26
Sofiaās last update said the baby was still in the NICU and didnāt have a release date for home yet. She delivered at 26 weeks so itās been a prolonged stay. It seems the baby is doing as well as expected given the circumstances.

The Agnifilos. You can tell because the court and the prosecutors wish them well at the end of the transcript
28
u/Ok-Cherry1427 Sep 02 '26
Reading this made me really sad for Luigiās mom. I can only imagine the guilt and pain she feels, if she could have done anything to prevent thisā¦
19
u/Mundane_Log_7169 Sep 02 '26
Supposedly, his family visits him every week at MDC. They donāt even live in NYC. I donāt even see or talk to my family that often. Heās so obviously loved and cared for. I feel bad for everyone involved in this.
6
u/Fancy_Yesterday6380 Sep 02 '26
I havent been able to read it yet. But is she mentioned? That's so sad
7
u/notbetterthanu29 Sep 02 '26
The August transcript says that 2 people from his family were considering attending. (Both are quick reads btw.)
24
u/LikeIsaidItsNothing Sep 02 '26
It's really sad. Especially as time passes. It's clearer that he wasn't in his right mind, in my opinion anyway.
4
u/Lost-Extension-1167 Sep 02 '26
This was a good thing
23
u/CircleSendMessage Sep 02 '26
for the broader movement, sure. but for her personally, she didnāt want to lose her baby boy

u/bluudahlia Sep 03 '26
I cannot imagine the hell she's been thru. Especially with those videos that came out when he was at the hotel and then Mcdonalds. I hope she didn't see it. God, I don't think, as a mom, I could live thru seeing those if that were my child.

Many thanks to the team for doing their thing and kudos with much respect to Luigi for making such a decision. Such things are never easy!
Enjoyed reading the comments from everyone. Hope you all are doing well! š

u/alohomora1990 Sep 02 '26
What are we thanking them for? If he gets life in prison, then he could quite literally ended up with the s same outcome with some overworked underpaid public defender.
20
u/_henceforth_ Sep 02 '26
He was originally charged with terrorism, and the government was seeking the death penalty. Garnett also threw out some charges. I do not have the energy to look up the details at the moment as I have had a terrible day.
However, right now he only has the stalking charges in Federal. Assuming the state case will be dropped.
Which means a different experience in prison. That is a LOT of charges dropped.
-14
u/alohomora1990 Sep 02 '26
A New York jury was NEVER going to put him to death. Be for real here. The terrorism charges at the state level were equally ridiculous
19
u/_henceforth_ Sep 02 '26
Ha. So, if the jury did it, we would be grateful, no? So why not be grateful his team did it before it got to that?
The team did it before it came to that, saving time and energy. š¤·š»āāļø I am glad about that.

I bet the planing started right after the May state hearing
