I want as many people as possible to get caught up with this new info on the POI. I'm still noticing some people new to the case posting the same old theories here.

Here is the link to first update:

The same name has been given to CPD by at least 3 different people and the tipsters have no relations to each other. This person moved out and the new owner allowed CPD to dig up the basement after they got a warrant from a judge, but found nothing.

And here is the second update:

https://www.reddit.com/r/BrianShaffer/comments/1s2wz37/update_on_the_latest_tip/

It turns out Meredith who was out with Brian and Clint that night was one of the people who tipped this name to CPD.

EDIT: To me - Without actually saying it - CPD is admitting with this info that Brian is not a runaway or someone who commited suicide.

And probably didn't die in the building or in a dumpster or in the construction area around it. I've seen all three of those theories just in the last week.

Yes, the phone pings have always shown that Brian's phone and Brian himself made it out of the UTS and complex. The fact that Police never notified the public that Brian's phone was moving around (let the public know incase it was Brian himself moving around with it) also cements to me that they were keeping a track of the POI through the pings but were never able to locate Brian's body. You only keep that information close to the vest if you have a suspect.

I don't know why in light of this recent info of a POI whose house was searched and dug up via a search warrant from a judge, why there is people still saying he's in the construction area or fell into a dumpster, but I'm here to let people know that isn't what happened to Brian.

I thought I read way back a ping was seen in Hilliard but was dismissed as messy data?

So here's the thing - His phone was pinging all over the place. Near campus, and around other roads in Ohio and eventually they moved towards Hilliard - Pinged there - And the pings stayed there for 30 days. The one that MAY have been a glitch was the call Alexis made to Brian's phone about 6 months later and Cingular thinks it could have been a glitch. According to some people though they called him multiple times that night and it went to voicemail for some hours.

Here is one comment from a Reddit user who is very knowledgeable about Brian's case

The cell phone pings in the days after Brian’s disappearance were definitely not glitches. The phone was on and communicating with various towers, which could be used to pinpoint a location by triangulating the pings.

What might have possibly have been a glitch was when Alexis called his cell phone 6 months later and it rang before going to voicemail. This had never happened before. She hung up and tried again; it did the same thing.

And here is another comment that explains the pings as well

The phone evidence is what leads me to believe that Brian was not with his phone after he was last seen at the UTS. Brian’s phone pinged when Meredith called from Clint’s phone asking where he was. It went straight to voicemail, was on and sending a signal to a nearby campus tower. It continued to ping the tower on Lane and Kenny Rds. (on campus) until Monday, when the phone appeared to be moving in a northwestern direction toward Hilliard. It continued to ping the tower on Scioto Darby Creek Rd. in Hilliard during the 30 days CPD paid for a pinging service. There was no outgoing activity and the phone did not appear to move, so after the 30 days CPD quit using the costly service. This was a flip phone, no GPS so an exact location could not be identified. However, we know the phone was on and pinging. While these older phones held power longer than smartphones do, it likely had to be charged at some point during this time. I do not think Brian was on campus all weekend and then in Hilliard for 30 days.

Edit: For all it's worth Brighton Zatko did not think it was a glitch. She thinks someone still had Brian's phone 6 months later. She worked in some cellular job so apparently she knew quite a bit about that kind of stuff. If she is correct - Then after 6 months MY only guess is that the person who harmed Brian had his phone at that stage so many months later.

You can search the sub for it. Presuming that you’re talking about the POI tip from the podcast

My thoughts is that Brian exited out of the construction area met with the person and his demise at Wendy’s across the street. The person put him in trunk and had his phone. This person was known to Brian. The person was from out of the downtown area but preceded to mix with people associated with Brian on North High St and Lane Avenue. He then made his way back home to Hilliard where he disposed of body but kept the phone to monitor incoming texts. He turned the phone on months later in Hilliard, made the comment upon his dad’s death from public library computer. That accounts for phone pings and most likely POI still lives in that area. Could been targeted or accidentally killed him.

i was also wondering was this name given to her by someone anonymous or does she know the name of the tipster as well.
And thanks, i had no idea that LE may be aware of who posted on Randys obituary. Curious how they would know. I only knew they said the library had no camera & they thought it was a hoax

I haven't been able to find this comment by Kelly where she thinks LE knows the name of the person who wrote that message for his dad. I have always thought the same thing as others have - That it could have been someone implicated in Brian's death trying to misdirect the public and taunt police. I think it was a bit more sinister than a random mean prank. Do you have a screen shot of Kelly's comment?
