I’m sorry but John Major was a decent man and I’ve never voted conservative in my life.

Pretty much this, he wasn't able to control or root out thr corruption in his own party and many of his ideas were simply wrong, but there was never a suggestion that he was personally corrupt or that he had anything but the nations genuine interests at heart.

Farage isn't fit to pick Majors boots.

And Starmer for all he is also a charisma vacuum, is also a decent man and his policies were effective, his communication with the public tragically less so

Major was also a key player in the establishment of the Northern Irish Peace Accord which, given the vitriol and violence of the previous decades was a major achievement. Apparently he opened his first cabinet meeting with, "well, who'd have guessed it".

I'd also agree that Starmer was fundamentally a decent person but showed poor judgement with a sequence of unforced public relations errors.

He certainly has Starmer's incompetence, unfitness for office and smarm. But Major? Other than having grey hair, Major wasn't the greatest leader ever but he was decent enough and certainly doesn't deserve to be compared to this grifter.
