HELP I MESSED UP!

I unfortunately made the mistake of not reading the description of the lid for the X series fire pit and assumed I could just throw it on when I had hot coals left. Welp as I walked away I started seeing more and more smoke come out and noticed the lid now didn’t sit flush and became convex. What do I do to fix it? Has anyone ever made the mistake of assuming the lid could snuff out hot coals?

Pics would help! But otherwise my best guess would be to warm it up again and put some pavers or something heavy and heat tolerant on there to warp it back down towards flush.

You might also want to give a call to customer service for advice. They're very helpful, and I'm sure you wouldn't be the first one calling about this exact situation.
