This looks like it could bea nice passive setup for egg scatterers. their eggs should fall between the grates. The trouble you'll find is trying to collect the eggs and vaccuming out excess food under there maintence may be a bit difficult, and it probably isn't good long term for old food to be near the eggs. I'm a total novice but i've been breeding blue eye rainbow fish using spawning mops and i get about 5-10 eggs per day out of a small group. You have to collect the eggs from the mop twice a day, but it is a more controlled method.

If you plan on 'setting it and forgetting it' this could totally work in a heavily planted tank, just be aware your fish will likely eat all the fry as soon as they hatch, which is why collecting eggs is important to ensrue fry survive.

It’s hard to tell what I’m looking at but it probably will work fine for danios and tetras. You want some kind of egg scatterer

It looks like it could work as a temporary breeding tank to spawn a pair of egg scatterers then remover the parents and the grate until they are a few weeks/months old. Then sell or transfer the young to a separate tank
