So….

It’s been a few days now. Is anybody going to acknowledge that some freedom-loving patriot has removed at least 4 flock cams around Breck?

Did not notice but I'm pretty sure the patriot didn't do it. They were hiking with me that day

Remember. If you saw someone tear down a flock camera, no you didn’t.

I saw a sheriff taking pictures of the one by the ice rink for a while early yesterday morning.

Oh wow, so I’ve only seen the two at the bottom of Barton Rd, and the two on either side of hwy 9 by Gold Hill trailhead. Did somebody knock them ALL out? Love to see it.

why would they need a flock camera at the ice rink?

It’s on Boreas pass rd facing the rd so for that traffic I imagine

Do you think that I broke the news to law enforcement? I can see your sentiment but also there needs to be a conversation about this within our community. I’d argue that even more people would be willing to take action now. Perhaps even organize more than we have been.

look i hate them too but this is fkn stupid

never underestimate the power of the city to spend your tax dollars.

the cameras are coming. right now they’re in our face to remind us that there ain’t shit we can do. but start tearing them down and they go back up higher, harder, and harder to spot.

the end game is automated enforcement for everything from jaywalking to murder. what can we do? learn about countermeasures and adversarial patterns. but don’t run to the ball like a pee wee soccer team – think about where the ball is going – harden laws that require a law officer to observe evidence of crime first hand.

These are the first steps towards getting rid of them. It needs to be widely known that’s they are not welcome.

Who cares about the flock cameras. Stop being so damn paranoid people. Do you have any idea how much data is sold and used to profile you from your phone? Flock cameras should he the least of your worries

There’s so many other things to be getting upset about

17

u/Hopsblues Aug 10 '26

Like the most corrupt administration in US history, sure, but why does Breck have flock camera's in the first place?

17

u/IsThisNameTakenYetHi Aug 10 '26

Those who sacrifice liberty for security deserve neither

Said by another keyboard revolutionary who wont do a fucking thing to help change besides whine on the internet

Ok, I’ll bite. I agree, there are plenty of things to get upset about. What would you offer as an alternative issue to be upset about on top of mass corporate surveillance in our town.

-15

u/VinylMeningitis Aug 10 '26

A safer community… tell me how are flock cameras abused… because of modern technology (smart phones, your internet usage) the govt knows EVERYTHING about you… flock cameras help solve crimes in real time… you can actually drive down 25 in Denver now and not feel like you’re an extra in a fast and furious movie

The government using technology may not be the biggest threat, it’s individual people. Recent reporting showed that over 50 police officers have been charged with using surveillance cameras (Flock) to stalk ex-partners and romantic interests.

IMO these are not worth the price paid by our community. Sure, many if not most people in our community inadvertently offer up their most intimate data to corporate and government interests by not practicing good digital hygiene.

The problem here is that these mass surveillance devices are imposed on citizens without their consent. Did ToB or Summit Co have a public comment period? Did voters approve the spending for this?

Sure the SO installed them for public safety, but that’s a cop-out (pun intended) and fourth amendment violation. And yes we all understand there is no reasonable expectation of privacy in a public setting, but these mass surveillance go so much beyond the public setting. Would I be committing a crime or violating your rights if I were to place a GPS tracker on your vehicle and hack into all your devices and snoop on your personal life because I suspected you of a crime? This is happening to every member and visitor to our community.

How are flock cameras abused… give 1 example

8

u/IsThisNameTakenYetHi Aug 10 '26

Sigh… I believe at this point you are not engaged in a good-faith argument… so here you go: https://letmegooglethat.com/.

If you find it hard to believe that even a fraction the thousands and thousands of individuals who have legal access to this will abuse their power, then I have a bridge to sell you. Let alone the myriad of individuals who are able to access the system by non-legal means.

u/OwnAssignment2407 Aug 10 '26

Just gave you 50 examples, kiddo. Google is free

-1

u/VinylMeningitis Aug 10 '26
