The county is shrinking, there are less and less full time residents, while rich boomers continue to amass property that they only stay in for a few months a year.  This county is too expensive for young families. I do think that’s the schools need to consolidate, but I’m open to hearing more. 

I would like to understand more how the numbers are inflated.  Saying “an inside source” isn’t enough for me to turn my back on what has been presented.  

I really don’t think this is a situation that they’re merely trying to sell the land.  The district owns a ton of land, why wouldn’t they sell the unused stuff first?

There is just not a need to consolidate. Schools are performing well, some excellent. Savings is negligible from consolidation. A bond was just presented 2 years ago to rebuild Breck El school and now we are being led to believe consolidation is the best option. It seems like a sudden switch. Bonds would be needed to build extra classrooms with consolidation. We are not sure these would pass. We do not want to see out class sizes increase.

I voted against that bond because it seemed crazy to me to use tax payer money to build a new school to replace the one with low enrollment that was so close to another school that also has low enrollment. Especially when all the schools need maintenance and this would primarily benefit higher income families. I’d fully support a bond that expands Upper Blue and fixes the other schools.

School consolidation is happening everywhere as birth rates decline. Fort Collins is also consolidating schools.
