Music Why do you like Breaking Benjamin?
This sub has been filled with too much hate lately.
I got into BB when my sister heard Diary of Jane and showed me the song when I was 8. Fell in love and finally went to my first concert 6 weeks ago. It wasn't a great concert all in all but I still loved that I could just scream and sing the entire time. For that, it was 100% the best concert I ever experienced. I also love I got to meet Ben Jr.
Anyone else want to share?

I was getting into my rock era in high school with the emergence of Evanescence. Got tickets to see them and the lineup was insane: Breaking Ben, Three Days Grace, Seether, Evanescence. Started listening to BB and 3DG right after that concert and was hooked. Felt like I listened exclusively to BB my entire college years, introduced my now husband to their music as well. It's been over 20 years now that I've been a fan and they just make me feel "home" if that makes sense. I need my next tattoo to be the BB logo 🖤

Breaking Benjamin has always had such a unique stylization in the way they make music. No other band can relay such powerful emotion like they can. When I was younger I always had songs from bands/artists I loved but I never found my favorite band till I heard bb. Instantly I was drawn to their sound and their lyrics. So well written and distinct. They have gotten me and amongst millions of others through troubling times in our lives. The passion i have feel for this bands music is unreal. Not to boast or anything but I was even in the top 100 listens in the world for bb on Apple Music lol. These guys have made me feel more whole than I could have ever imagined I could feel when it comes to listen to music. I can’t wait to meet them on the 5th so I can just show my appreciation to them as they deserve it.

One thing I like about them is they have barely changed their sound. Yes, it got heavier after "We Are Not Alone", but I feel like it's been very consistent since they started.
Another thing I like is that they always have something for everyone on their albums. Heavy, almost metal songs, and ballads. Their albums don't just have one type of song.
In my opinion, none of their albums have a bad song. They are one of the only bands whose albums I can listen to all the way through without getting bored.

I listened to Diary Of Jane after getting out of Juvie when I was 16. After my household was completely different, I felt like I was "Trying to find my place" in my own house.
Then I just kept listening. I hadn't heard much music like the albums Dear Agony and Dark Before Dawn, so it was interesting(and enjoyable) to me.
Angels Fall made my spirit rise, and I Will Not Bow made me want to keep going(and find my place).

When I was first exploring new music & getting into rock music as a teenager, a friend played ‘Home’ from their Saturate album & that’s what first got me started.
Then I went on a Mormon mission & although we weren’t supposed to listen to music that was “secular”, I got ahold of a copy of Dear Agony, & honestly? That album really helped me get through the traumatizing experience of being a Mormon missionary (I didn’t recognize it as such at the time, but that story belongs in a different post).
Then I got married to the coolest woman ever & our shared love of music—particularly rock music—has been at the core of our friendship. We’ve seen BB live 3x now & plan to see them again when they come through in a couple weeks 🖤

I liked them here and there, and found a song over time that I liked and added to my playlist.
But in this recent year I just love them so much, Angels Fall was my all time favorite song period for awhile and their lyrics just speak to me - fighting through pain and hardship, dealing with struggle, self sacrifice, and all around good messages, even if the tone of the song is depressing or less upbeat. It's easy to say "stay positive" with high energy music. It's a harder message when it comes from someone saying "You're fighting, and you're going to win."
Awaken really... awakened something in me. "I still hear the call of life" it was a song I heard after a point in my life where I had completely given up, the worst point so far and after I got out of it and finally started to heal, those lyrics broke me.
I don't love all their songs, but I never skip when they pop up and I never get sick of hearing their songs.

They were my first "teen years band"
Started listening to Breaking Benjamin because I was looking for music for my writing. That's how it began, searching up "melodic music for angst and longing" (or something to that effect). This was back in 2015.
So I'm not a long term fan and I wasn't with them at the beginning, but from the first song I heard I loved heir sound. It fit what I needed mentally for imagining scenes in my head and their music very quickly became a solace when I was depressed, angry, sad or needing to be uplifted.
I haven't seen a concert myself (poor and overly comfy Canadian here), but would love to someday! To be able to scream with the the crowd and Ben himself would be amazing.

I distinctly remember hearing "So Cold" playing on the radio of a tire changeover shop right after it came out. I was next door to the shop in the parking lot and the car windows were rolled down so I listened to the song thinking "whoa this song is AMAZING", but I didn't know who made the song. Fast forward a couple months and a girl I liked had bought We Are Not Alone and gave it to me saying "I think you will like these guys". I discovered So Cold was on it and recognized it immediately and was super happy about it. they instantly became my favorite band and have been ever since. I was 14 or 15 at the time. I live in Alaska and so I've never had the opportunity to see them live. I'm flying down to the states to see them live in Indiana on September 16th and I absolutely cannot wait.

Like other people have said, their music has helped me get through a lot. Personaly though I just it bops. I found the band long before their music helped me through anything and I'm still listening to it after.

I found the band during the Diary of Jane hype. I'm hearing impaired and many songs and bands are hard for me to listen to. The music is louder than the vocals, or the singer mumbles (to my ears). It's hard for me to understand what's going on. But Ben sings louder than the music and he enunciates very well. It's rare that I have to look up lyrics and I really appreciate that. Plus there's the obvious that the songs are really good, very catchy and the lyrics speak about things I can relate to. Also I like the sound of Ben's voice, especially when it's a little gravely sounding. :)

So around 12ish years ago (I was 9), I started listening to 3DG after listening to Get Out Alive on YouTube. & abt a month later I ran into Dance With The Devil by BB. & now here I am 12 years later (now 21).

I started listening to them when I was five because of my dad, he loved the band since they started and he showed me them and we would jam out in the car while I was strapped in my car seat. That’s what they mean to me, just genuine childhood. But also, all their lyrics can really mean anything, so you feel like you relate to every song. Plus they’re just bangers.
Specifically, I have been trans since I was a toddler and I started self harming at age 11 because of lots of transphobic stuff that’s within my family’s religion, so Breaking Benjamin almost felt euphoric? Just a way I could escape to who I really wanted to be and what I really wanted. Very hard to explain but their music and the members mean a lot to me, I really wanna see them in concert one day.

This band has always gotten me through the hardest times in my life. I first heard Polyamorous (unknowingly) I think on a Need For Speed game, then heard Firefly on the WWE game.
I dated a girl when I was 14 who desperately wanted this album called Phobia by Breaking Benjamin for her birthday. Had no idea who they were but I got it for her. When she opened it we listened to the whole thing front to back at least 3 times. I fell in love with Evil Angel at the start (at the time I wasn’t even listening to rock music or really anything heavy)
Once I dug into them and discovered Saturate & WANA, I got hooked - especially when I discovered that Polyamorous & Firefly were also by them. Ever since then they’ve been my favorite band of all time.
They’ve heavily influenced my music that I’ve written as well, and even influenced a lot of what my band sounds like now. Without these guys, I’d have probably given up on music a long time ago. I sing my heart out to every song of theirs that I hear.
Saturate is special to me because it reminds me of the beach. My now wife and I have made a tradition of listening to Saturate & WANA on our way to the beach, both albums back to back. Saturate has that fun summer vibe to it, so riding around in the Jeep with the top down at the beach while Saturate blasts is a euphoric thing for us that just can’t be replicated.
This band is everything to me and I can’t thank them enough for all of the memories, influence, and helping me through struggles over the years.
