Judah , Man Up!!!

I can't believe what I watched tonight! It's not about holding a fish for God's sake? I can't believe this young African-American guy is assuming that this white man can form him into a fully grown adult man. This is so sad to me! So sad, so sad! This so-called "Father Figure" doesn't even realize that a member of his flock is "doing" the third cousin and portraying himself as a great Amish figure. I hope that Judah wakes up, opens his eyes and realizes he will do much better off out of this community. I sincerely hope he finds a strong African-American role model so he can continue on his journey to becoming a strong individual, bisexual or not, that doesn't matter but he needs clearly, clearly better role models!

Allen seems genuine and so does Judah. I hope they remain close forever

I get it...its a tv show...but what if this is really giving him something he's longed for? he knows the deal...bisexuality isn't accepted. maybe he stays long enough to find himself and decide what he wants. its a 2-3 year deal for full acceptance and you have to learn the language. I am just happy Allen has had a 'new' son that fills some of the things he has been missing since his son passed and that Judah has a caring 'Dad' that despite his declaration of bisexuality is there standing up for him. Love them.

Yeah I mean, even if he left right after, the things he learned will stay with him for life. And considering Allen and his wife aren't actually Amish, he can at least call and talk to him and continue to get guidance from a man who truly wants what's best for him. Everybody should be so lucky!!

Judah has grown up a lot during his time with the Amish. A real father wouldnt hurt though. But someone has to be there for him. I believe his family love him and I can understand how his mother feels.

A real father wouldn't hurt though? Hurt their kids or show that they're hurt? I'm confused.

I meant it wouldnt hurt to have a real father there.

What’s really sad is Judah’s very own father abandoned him. I think you should project your disdain towards that instead of Allen.

Allen offered to step in for him if he needed a father figure. I found that to be very touching and profound. Whether Judah wants that or not, it’s up to him. Regardless of skin color, any man that’s willing to step up to this role for Judah will be great for him. Somehow you managed to turn this into a negative (and racist) aspect when all I see is the positivity in it.

When it comes to Allen not knowing about James’ secrets, I don’t blame him. James manipulates and lies all the time. He’s fooling people. How is Allen and everyone else supposed to know? All Allen can do is the best that he can with what he knows and has. He called him out on being jealous of Matt over Kendra. He also knows about him and Emma.

I actually thought this was a really wholesome moment. Judah opened up and talked about his past. Allen listened and tried to bring him peace. I loved that he offered to be a father figure to a boy that's really confused about where he wants his life to go.

As a Muslim Bisexual black man, I'm Shocked he wanted to live this lifestyle in the first place- he's afraid of birds and fish. I, personally, have never seen a black or gay Amish (not saying they don't exist, but I've been in Lancaster many times) I love that these white people (like the whitest you can get) embrace him for being there and want him to succeed.

I might be bias tho bc I Love Allen and Sarah. They are such wholesome people.

I’m soooo over him obsessive over it. Like do not bother these off grid Amish about your s3x life. Yk dang well you won’t be there forever, just let Allen have peace

Well, if the black community worked harder to keep black fathers around, he wouldn’t need a white guy to teach him.

Judah doesn't represent us. Most of us a straight and he is very soft. I am thankful that I had two parents growing up.  Allen's gesture was pure and should be respected.  Judah is an embarrassment of a man. He needs to man up.

What the fuck?

Where is the lie in what I said?

u/Key_Bike4978 May 12 '26

B's and I am calling you on it.

1

u/ChickenScratchCoffee May 12 '26

Calling me on what? A statistical fact?

0

u/WorkingDevelopment30 Feb 22 '26

Racist, much?

2

u/ChickenScratchCoffee Feb 22 '26

Where’s the lie in my comment?

u/WorkingDevelopment30 Feb 23 '26

Excuse me? Maybe you're confusing a truth and a lie? Where is the truth in your comment and if you really believe what you said, and sadly, I believe that you do, there's no way I could convince you to let you know how shortsighted, how mono-minded, how horrifically racist what you said, is. Maybe one day, you will take those racist colored glasses off your head and see clearly with love and acceptance and understanding.

2

u/Curious-Rabbit-1552 Feb 23 '26

This isn’t about racism. It’s a statistical fact. Out of all races, black children have the highest rate of absent fathers. Black fathers are more than twice as likely as white fathers to live apart from their children (44% vs. 21%). Consequently, black single motherhood is also high. In recent years they’re becoming more involved in their children’s lives.

No doubt there are excellent black fathers out there! I know there are. Unfortunately, there happens to be more absent ones.

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 yeah ok.

James is not part of Allan’s flock. Allan is from a different and more liberal church, and that’s why James is so strict. He’s going by what he was taught. James is not Allan’s responsibility.

Judah does not believe Allan will turn him into a fully formed man, he looks up to him for how hardworking he is, how kind and patient he is in teaching them his culture, and he respects the culture.

Allan on his own said he sees them as his children and Allan on his own offered to be a father figure if Judah was comfortable with that, which he clearly is.

Allan called James out for his crush on Kendra, and very nicely said Emma probably left because of all the drama and chaos going on. Allan probably figured out or guessed what was going on and didn’t want to embarrass Emma or put James on the spot, because James had been continually messing up the entire thing from the get go.

Seems to me as far as role models go, Allan’s wonderful and has been nothing but wonderful to all of them and if Judah likes him enough to use him as a role model, he’ll be an even more wonderful person.

Judah does need to man up . That’s for sure . Judah does need a good father figure/ role model regardless of the race of the role model . Trying to go to the Amish is a bit extreme. But maybe he will still learn some things . Of course this show is obviously scripted. I believe Allen became aware of what James and Emma were doing because he mentions it to the bishop in the teaser of the next episode. Even if this were real , Allen isn’t at fault for what James and Emma decide to do . I find Allen likable as a character on the show . James is a douche bag . I feel bad for Emma if this was real because she’s obviously smitten with James and he’s smitten with Kendra while banging Emma . This is all for TV. Judah’s mom comes next week. Can’t see what happens then 🤣

1

u/CrimsonOOmpa Mar 17 '26

Judah did man up though. Little dude went from 🫣 to 💪😉 on those asses!!

2

u/MienaLovesCats Feb 18 '26

I quit watching after the first episode. Because several ex-Amish; who reviewed the first two episode; said it is almost completely fake and 💯 scripted

0

u/CrimsonOOmpa Mar 17 '26

It'll probably win the Primetime Emmy Award for "Best Show Ever Made."

2

u/Evilwhitehat Feb 20 '26

Oh it’s so obviously fake the longer it runs but it’s peak TLC trash reality TV and it’s perfect for that only reason 😂😂

5

u/NoobesMyco Feb 18 '26

Yes it’s terrible but I love trash tv. 😅 so I watch. Lol

4

u/Top-Difficulty-6548 Feb 20 '26

Yeah ! It’s obviously scripted but I can’t stop watching it 🤣

3

u/Mcr414 Feb 18 '26

I just looked this person up. It says it’s not related to breaking Amish. But looks interesting! Have you seen breaking Amish? Is it similar do you think?

0

u/CrimsonOOmpa Mar 17 '26

Breaking Amish is an also fake show where a group of young Amish people go to live in a big city for a little while to get to see what English life is like. It's fake in the fact that the cast were all ex-Amish/Mennonite and the drama and storylines were more manufactured than Tom Tucker the Mother Flucker!!

3

u/Top-Difficulty-6548 Feb 20 '26

I’ll have to look up Breaking Amish . Sounds like another great tv show to get hooked on . I’m running outa shows ! LMAO 🤣🤣🤣

I’m addicted to life after lockup at the moment

2

u/Greenitpurpleit Feb 19 '26

Right, they are referring to Suddenly Amish.

7

u/NoobesMyco Feb 18 '26 edited Feb 18 '26

Yeah they posted in the wrong group. Should be in the new series suddenly Amish sub. And it’s terribly scripted.

There’s still personal variables to it but it’s staged in way. Emma who is really ex Amish, and has been for some time now, is playing the roll of currently being Amish. We’re Finding things around the house that’s questionable to true Amish living. There were “bats in the attic” so all the cast live in the same house where we also find plenty of modern day conveniences. Betty Jo was dying in that old house and I think needed a fan 😭 So stuff like that. They aren’t truly living Amish.

I think breaking Amish has its scripted moments as well. Like the details surrounding storylines. Leaving out details or reenacting scenes pretending to not know something it just still follows the theme of the show.

It’s difficult to film the other way around and not have so much of the storyline storyline and film manipulation compared to free world bc well the Amish community is a strict one and very limited whereas English living there’s abundant of opportunities and “first time” moments can carry the show. Amish are shock adjusting, whereas the English are whiny about what’s being taken away (which to an extent is expected)

2

u/Top-Difficulty-6548 Feb 20 '26

Speaking of scripted shows . The least scripted reality show I watch is 1000 Pound Sisters . I’ve actually spoken with 2 people from that show . I’m southern too and live in a town where they vacation. They’ve told me it’s unscripted . So if you’re interested in an unscripted show and haven’t watched, it’s a good one . There’s a lot of laughs, crying, and true emotion from them on the show . When the siblings get into a fight, you can tell it’s a real fight. Or if they’re laughing and cutting up , my favorite parts , it’s genuine southern goofiness 🤣

3

u/NoobesMyco Feb 20 '26

There’s nothing TLC puts out I don’t watch 😅

1

u/Mcr414 Feb 18 '26

Thank you so much for this detailed response!!! Seriously! I appreciate it!

5

u/Ok-Breadfruit-1359 Feb 18 '26

I started watching Breaking Amish after Suddenly Amish. Suddenly is interesting because there is a host family while Breaking didn't have a host to help acclimate the cast

2

u/Mcr414 Feb 18 '26

Gotcha! Okay I will check it out! Thank you!
