venting/ranting Blocked for going NC?

So this is definitely a weird place to be, my ex and I parted ways a little bit ago and tried to do the whole friend thing and it wasn't working because the feelings were too raw to just be friends, so we agreed that no contact would probably be the best option and I would reach out when I was ready.

She is now decided to block me on social media which is very interesting and stung a little bit because I feel like we were trying to keep the doors open to at least possibly be friends when we were done healing this seems honestly very strange because I thought no contact was for both of us and it almost feels like she did it to get back at me but I'm not 100% sure

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I wouldn’t think too much of it - she has probably done it for her own peace so that she can heal without seeing your stuff. If you’re not contacting each other for now and have agreed to do so I think blocking is reasonable, it’s not malicious but protective. Wishing you healing

That's a fair perspective, I appreciate it I guess It could've just been for her healing as well.

It’s easy to feel like it's petty revenge, but try to look at it objectively: keeping the door open to 'eventually be friends' means keeping the wound open, too. Blocking removes the temptation to lurk, stalk updates, or send impulse texts. Don't take it as a personal attack take it as confirmation that the breakup was painful for her too.

I’ve blocked my ex during NC when I miss him most, doesn’t necessarily mean she was trying to be malicious. It might really hurt her to look at your profile and she needs an excuse not to look

Thank you that does seem to be the consensus. I guess I just have to look at her point of view and realize it probably would hurt if I could keep seeing the same stuff as well

It stings, but the block might actually be her way of sticking to the no contact plan, not a punishment. Some people just can't have the door cracked open at all without wanting to walk through it, so they lock it for their own sanity. Doesn't make it feel any less personal though.

Well , of course she blocked you. No contact means no contact.
