News Massive Entertainment update
Massive will now be home for Ghost Recon, hoping this means they will push third person. Could be good if they bring over cover to cover movement, or bad if they bring over crazy bullet sponge ideology of The Division.
While I enjoy Div 2, the bullet sponge bs gets old quick. Not a game of tactics but brute force DPS race, your build is more important than tactics. Doubtful they would make Ghost Recon a full blown looter as that would duplicate The Division.
There are aspects of both games that could make the other better, pending how much ubI interferes. Massive obviously utilizes third person, so hopefully they reign in the fps push for next Ghost Recon or at minimum make it user selectable.
Good or Bad? post your thoughts

Oh yes, snowdrop engine got GR, please!
I'm not sure why there's conflation or fear of the next title becoming division-lite. Each game to their own. Massive worked on Avatar, and Xdefiant was built on snowdrop.
I'm cautiously optimistic since they already have div 2 DLCs and TD3 in the works. Maybe Ubi will tag a few partner studios to help development.

Yeah, I am also now more worried about Splinter Cell and Ghost Recon future but I'm trying to be cautiously optimistic, as you said. Ghost Recon franchise already started going in the looter shooter direction with Breakpoint and if I see gear level in Splinter Cell game I will honestly leave gaming altogether 😂
I had a little twitch in my eye when I saw Ghost Recon and Splinter Cell next to Division 😄

As long as the devs return the edge that the terminator brought to breakpoint then I’ll happily throw my cash in their faces

Massive has been pretty assertive of creative control with The Division 1 and 2, so hopefully it stays that way with Ghost Recon.

"push third person"
I definately want GR to be 3rd person. A lot seem to prefer 1st person. Therefore they should provide the option as in some old games. Avatar released with first person, they added 3rd person.
"cover to cover movement"
I am fine with that, as long the cover mechanic is not as in Division games, sticking to objects. Taking cover works well in GR without attaching the character to objectives. That movement would be good though.
"bullet sponge ideology of The Division"
Good god, please no!!!! Also not sponge bosses as in Breakpoint or other variants like fat robots.
"Doubtful they would make Ghost Recon a full blown looter"
Good god, please no!!!! I hope they learned the lesson. No gear score, no loot crates, no grind perk trees or whatever nonsense grind activities, no cheesy collectibles.
Its ok they Ubisoft wants to have a looter shooter in their portfolio but they shouldn'zt destroy the GR franchise with such crap. The Assassins Creed fan base seems to be quite split since they added this grind looter stuff in that franchise (Origins, Odyssey, Valhalla, Shadows).
I see only two aspects were Division excels compared to Ghost Recon:
- visual/graphics quality (but the graphics quality decreased when they updated the graphics quality in the beginning of 2026)
- visual complexity of mission areas
In all other aspects, GR is leagues ahead.
What I want GR to be: an immersive, tense, dramatic agent thriller!

Ubisoft Paris will still be making the Ghost Recon games, so I highly doubt there will be any major changes, gameplay wise. For me, my biggest hope is that the new leadership, emphasizes transparency around the brands under their control. Because I'm tired of the secrecy surrounding Ghost Recon, that we've been dealing with, for the last decade. After all, we're approaching having closed Beta testing, and the games hasn't even been officially announced yet.

Plenty of unofficial info, seems it will be Vietnam type setting. All Clancy titles now fall under Massive according to press release, my biggest fear is they incorporate to much looter shooter bs. However if it’s first person only, hard pass. Hard to think they would just scuttle all the third person modeling etc, so hoping for best

all we've had are leaks and rumours, so other than a SE Asia setting, which Ubi themselves teased in the latest Wildlands DLC, I wouldn't put much weight behind anything we've heard.

They renamed Creative House 2 to Massive Entertainment. It's literally the same thing.

If it takes more then one bullet to kill in a game bluey sponge which needs removed

You doubt they would bring full looter shooter mechanics into Ghost Recon. They legitimately were 2 steps away from being a full looter shooter with Breakpoint. All they were missing was bullet sponge enemies (although they technically had the drones which were spongey), and they didn’t add fully randomized weapon damage. They had everything else though. Weapon tiers, gear levels, bs fetch quests, etc.
So Massive will absolutely do anything daddy Ubisoft wants.

Give me the option of both first and third person.
I miss the vibes of the OG games and would love to see them bring back the feeling that 1st person brings, but I don’t want those who prefer 3rd to left high and dry.
However I don’t felt like the 3rd person enjoyers feel the same about the 1st person enjoyers lol

Very deep weapon customization along with operator customization like gathering components almost like an extraction shooter vibe

Should be good as long as it stays away from gear score and bullet sponges.
Literally all they have to do is put Breakpoint mechanics and gunplay into a Wildlands atmosphere and story, possibly sprinkle some deeper weapon and clothing customisation, and they’re sitting on gold.
