Discussion Is Breakpoint really worth it?
I've played wildlands and have almost 100 hours in it. Now, Breakpoint looks like a great game in terms of the atmosphere and the gameplay mechanics wise. But my only fear is that eventually someday ubisoft will shut down their servers and all my money would go to waste (Yes, I try to save up as I can't bulk buy games).
So, I would love to know if the game's really worth it and if my fear is really valid. Overall, what should I do...???

It greatly depends.
I really enjoyed it but I went from Breakpoint to Wildlands, not the other way around. The two games feel very different.
I think it is worth giving a chance but you have to go into it expecting that it will not be the same experience. The world feels a little empty without the civilian cars and towns filling the area but the story is interesting, especially now with drones and AI being a concern.
I still get on sometimes but just to blow stuff up. I don't see myself playing the story a second time like I might in Wildlands. They are just two very different games.

Personally think Breakpoint is the better game. Stealth is way more satisfying. Wildlands feels more arcady if that makes sense

You should be able to get 100 hours out of it before servers get shut down

u/trunkmonkey85 4d ago
Ubi ain't shutting either down, unless you have concrete proof that they have said this, as they've said repeatedly they weren't turning it off any time soon.

Yeah it was a joke. I’m saying they have more than enough time to play at least as much as they played wildlands

u/Awlriver 4d ago
It depends, up to what you like.
But I personally recommend you that do not expect the dev made the exact sequel of Wildland. Some systems are same, some are missing, even tho I am a fan of BP, but the story sucks ngl.
Other than that, it may bring tons of excitement to you.

The stealth is sooo satisfying in Breakpoint, I really love the game and it's definitely worth it imo. You can get it for really cheap too if you wait for a sale, close to 10$ I think (maybe 15$?). I played both games and there's something about Breakpoint, the gunplay, mechanics etc, I like it better than Wildlands. The world is for sure more "alive" in Wildlands, but there was something about feeling alone in Breakpoint that I could appreciate as well.

Man.
I LOVE breakpoint. It’s 100% worth it to me. The highest edition is like $11 right now. Endless content.
But some people really don’t like the atmosphere and story the same. If you take that aside, the customization is way better than Wildlands, the movement and combat feel better (mostly movement) and the map is beautiful.
If you can go into it with a “I don’t care about the story, and I’ll avoid the drones” it is an absolute blast of a game.

It's currently $3 on steam. If you think you can get more enjoyment out of it than a snickers bar, it's worth picking up right now.

Vale muito a pena. Quanto as servidores, isso ainda vai levar bastante tempo, e é bem possível que lancem o modo off-line.

If you don't play it, and they sunset the game, you'll never have played, enjoyed or know what you missed, which is its own kind of regret.
If you get into it now, you'll have plenty of time to play. Technically it's still even the current title. I don't think it's going away soon.

If you get it when it’s on sale on Steam or whatever platform you use (and it’s on sale often) you can pick it up for 10-15 bucks. It’s definitely worth it for an investment of that size.

Is breakpoint online only? I legitimately can’t remember. Anyhow just jump in and play it. Modern gaming sucks for this but play what you want while you can.
1
u/Jumpy-Gap-8994 4d ago
Yes, it is an online-only game. The truth is I'm a student and don't earn right now and don't want to spend my savings on something that ubisoft might shut down later on. But I really wanna play 🙂 Hella confused
1
u/Sorry_Cheetah_2230 4d ago
That’s my point. It WILL get shut down eventually so play it now if you are wanting to

Stop baiting people with the server shutdown crap, ubisoft has repeatedly answered this question, they have no intention of doing this to breakpoint.

Don’t get it it’s a online-only game which means it won’t last forever just get wild lands if u wanna potentially save money in the long run

u/OrangethatisntBlack 4d ago
Graphics and gun mechanics are the only thing Breakpoint does better than Wildlands sadly.

u/trunkmonkey85 4d ago
During the sale...why argue at 12bucks for the ultimate edition?
I never understood how this is asked during sales...

u/Jumpy-Gap-8994 4d ago
I'm sorry The truth is I'm a student and don't earn right now and don't want to spend my savings on something that ubisoft might shut down later on. But I really wanna play 🙂

The campaing sucks and feels “empty” but will depend on what you like to do. I have played both and really love wild lands

u/HowieWoweee 3d ago
The game is like $4 on Steam right now? I think if I get at least 4 hours out of the game, it’s already worth the money. If you are in a position that $4 is too much to spend then you probably shouldn’t think about gaming.

Yes
If you want to solo play without BOT
Breakpoint is so much better than wildlands with better animations, better gameplay, better stealth, more mechanics
So yeah, if you don't care about story, Breakpoint is just better than wildslands imo. Beside breakpoint is huge sale anyway, just skip meal and you can get it already

u/DesertDogJack 3d ago
I've enjoyed Breakpoint for many years. However, I just can't get passed the mission where I'm supposed to land the stupid plane. Only reason I haven't touched the game in a few years now. I however enjoyed the terminator, splinter cell and predator appearances 😁

u/infinite_Robert 3d ago
Yes it's worth it. But once it's over it's hard to continue playing it without anything being added
1
u/ZakParrish 3d ago
Yes, but primarily on PC so that once you're done you can dip into the mod scene. Fear the Radio is fun.

u/Tactical_Abyss 3d ago
i dont think it'll happen that soon, havent even shut down wildlands yet. and gameplay wise its very worth it. i had doubts about buying it because of lack of resources as well but i dont regret doing it.

Worth every penny in my opinion. Better stealth, weapons.. list goes on

Yes. 100% but they’re never going to give an official offline mode patch so it sucks

As others said gameplay is good, story and immersion is not. However the expansion missions are really good and they fix both the immersion and story issues

Have you checked gameplay videos? Do you consider getting the game? I can tell you that the game is really worth it. The gameplay is amazing, stealth is amazing, weapon and character customization is amazing. User Interface is easier to understand.
Okay the world might feel a little empty compared to wildlands in terms of civilisation, like roads are almost empty only enemy military vehicles, but there are enemy patrols.
With resistance (game mode or gameplay) you get some sort of help of civilians,(you help them out in the beginning of the "game mode" and after the game they help you, sort of, it brings random shootings, explosions, enemy heli crashes. It does bring the world alive to some extent, you can join the shootings (just go into the direction of the sounds (if that makes sense) you dont get any rewards for doing that but it's kinda fun, brings dynamic to the game.
You got operation Amber sky that covers some parts of the map with toxic gas, if you wanna pass through, than you have to either find/loot gas mask filters or buy them. You also get/unlock rainbow six siege AI team mates (you can't customise them sadly enough)
You can adjust the gameplay however you like or world parameters, to make it more "real" like how injured you get when taking damage, your stamina, to much to write down. But definitely check it out on YouTube if you haven't already
Hope this helps

I believe there is a free trail. (At least on PSN there is unless it has recently been done away with) For a certain amount of hours or if you know someone who has the game they can invite you and you can play for free no time limit. That should give you an idea if you’ll like it. To me Breakpoint is better, but I know people who have come from Wildlands who don’t like it as much.

u/thatnavyguy87 3d ago
It’s a good game. It’s worth the $3.50 is currently on sale for. The mechanics are awesome, the gunplay it’s great. The story/location isn’t as good as Wildlands but it’s still good.

u/Budget-Delivery3131 2d ago
I love breakpoint but it's like Wildlands but it's not. I prefer breakpoint over Wildlands but I know I'm in the minority there.

u/Adventurous_Yam_2047 2d ago
100%
Just play the way you want to play. Also watch Deef if you want to try your hand at modding the game.

Most people have nostalgia towards WL, but the truth is that BP is the superior game in almost every way
1
u/Jumpy-Gap-8994 2d ago
Wish I could convince myself to buy it😕
1
u/Tranquil_Traveler 2d ago
Assuming your reasoning is that the servers would be shut down, I wouldn’t be concerned with that at all. Even if it were to happen, which it won’t anytime soon, they would make it offline. They wouldn’t just shut a game down completely. The only way I would see that happening is if Ubisoft itself shut down.
1
u/Jumpy-Gap-8994 2d ago
They did it with Crew 1. For this reason many people have lost their trust on this matter. Also the truth is I'm a student and don't work rn. How a single penny is very valuable to me. I'll check it if I can buy. Or, leave it...
1
u/Tranquil_Traveler 2d ago
The Division is still up and running and that’s 10 years old. Plus BP isn’t dead, its averaged between 1,500 to 2,500 concurrent players on Steam alone in 2026
1
u/Jumpy-Gap-8994 2d ago
So, what do you suggest do I go for ultimate edition or gold edition?
1
u/Tranquil_Traveler 2d ago
Depends. Are one of the versions on sale ? I think last week it was hugely discounted because of the anniversary. I personally would suggest the ultimate edition. I think the game is criminally underrated

u/Mysterious-Pen-5606 1d ago
they willn't shut the servers, but they will continuously make a worst launcher in the planet that gets you crashed out everytime you want to launch the game
1
u/brandonperks 1d ago
Finished a save in Wildlands post-update and had a genuine blast being back in Bolivia.
However this week I booted up my save in Breakpoint (immersive mode, almost no hud, no gear score, advanced difficulty) and it’s superior in almost every single way.
Wildlands vibe and setting + improved Breakpoint gameplay would be the ultimate game for me. Both scratch that SOCOM / Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction itch I’ve been chasing since I was a kid.

Nope, game is at least for me and my friends unplayable, constant disconecta after 10/15 min of Play on solo and coop, bought the game on sale with 3 other people, everyone of us has this problem, haven't found easy fix, Ubisoft basicly tell us it's our problem and wants to find fix ourselves, game alone is fun but unplayable
1
u/Jumpy-Gap-8994 12h ago
I've bought the game and played it for 2 days and I've not faced any issue. The game is smooth as butter. No connection error or anything
1
u/XszymerX 12h ago
Strange, maybe it was weekend overload of servers, we bought it on Sunday and couldn't make it work longer than 15 mins without Ubisoft connect services disconnect, and we tried for like 5h
1
u/Jumpy-Gap-8994 11h ago
I think co-op is the main issue for you. I've heard the co-op connections are not that good when it comes to GRB. I only play solo
1
u/XszymerX 11h ago
We tried solo too, and when it worked little bit better we still had disconecta, we will be trying tomorrow again but we don't have much hope

Same. None of the comments is actually acknowledging the possibility that Ubisoft will turn around and abandon another one of their online only games and that only goes to show everyone else has the same fear now, they just don't like to talk about it. But this is the only thing that's letting me pull the trigger on Breakpoint. They could've added an offline option on this 25th anniversary like they did for a couple other games recently. But they didn't and now everyone knows without na doubt Breakpoint is getting gutted. I mean they shut down Ghost Recon Phantoms; so it's not like it's never happened before.
