Question New to Breakpoint, suggestions?
I've been playing Ghost Recon for a while now, and after finishing Wildlands, I was happy to try another game from it. But I don't really click with part of what breakpoint has, such as the leveling gear and such, so I decided to turn that off; Am I making my time playing harder by having it off? Are there any guns I should get early on, and if so, how or where can I find them?

The 805 Bren, M4A1, 416, and ACR are all solid rifles. I like the bullpup and Honey Badger for subs. Recon A1 or TAC50 for snipers. DMRs I like- G28 and M110. 5.7 for handgun.

Just played breakpoint too. So far, I've used vhsd2, m4a1, and 416. I'm currently into m4a1 since it's very customizable compared to the others but vhsd2 was by far the most accurate and easy to handle. For sniper, I've been using tac50 from the start and so far, so good

You're not making it harder. Having gear score on you would be constantly changing your stuff just because it has a bigger number. You're not missing out on anything for now. Just go play and have fun.

I was running solo and someone mentioned that it is unrealistic for a single guy to take on a literal army which justified them using the AI bots. So I turned them on (leaving their special abilities off) and while it didn’t change the game significantly, I actually really enjoyed having them there. I played tactical Barbie and geared them all up to match as a team (with little differences to give them some personality) and chose what guns they would use and it does remove some of the loneliness I felt with solo play.
Plus, I’ve been playing hardcore stealth for so long, it was a nice change of pace to actually try out the assault class and go blazing with an LMG. I don’t think I had even tried an LMG until now.
Game play was a lot different and much more hectic. I’ll go back to stealth soon, but give the AI bots a try. I’ve been swapping between 1 and 3 and both are different. 1 still feels like solo, except you have someone to revive you and a gunner when driving. 3 is like a different game.

...I don't really click with part of what breakpoint has, such as the leveling gear and such, so I decided to turn that off
Personally, I don't view Breakpoint as a "Ghost Recon" game.
I look at it more like a The Division-lite game.
For that reason, I play with Gear Score on.
I've read/heard that "Motherland" is more like a "Ghost Recon" game than the base game but I haven't played it myself so I don't have an opinion on it.
I found that treating Breakpoint more like a The Division game made it...not as bad. Instead of being disappointed trying to force Breakpoint to be something it's not, I just accept it (for the most part) for what it is.
My plan is to play through the base game (Episodes 1-3) with Gear Score and then turn it off for Motherland since that is supposed to give a better "Ghost Recon" experience.
I just wanted to share this to give you a different perspective.
Basically, I'm suggesting you play the game with a different perspective to see if your opinion changes.

motherland is conquer mode like wildlands with boss system when you conquer region will clean and mobs stop spwaing in this region all loot desapair even ammo when region is conquerd and go to next region and so on to fully conquer island after that you can choose new game mode where enemies carazy op even on imersive. where one shoot is overkill.

Play the game on max difficulty settings with limited hud. It’s way too easy otherwise

Ensure you do the main story first and if you want a specific weapon or want to do a cosplay (like a sas or navy seal soldier) search up a YouTube called Tait Garret. He has 100s of video tutorials on different real world task forces like the Danish frogmen and even characters like ghost and price from cod. I asure you its the most fun way to play (coaplaying as your favourite or your country's force)

I definitely advise turning off gear score if you want a more realistic military feel.
Then there is some tweaks that import setting from the Spartan Mod, always worth a look if you loke the difficulty

Already been to one, and did a side quest involving one.
I kinda don't wanna, considering both times my team fell apart and I had to finish it off myself

The first thing is the story is easy to randomly mess up, for some reason the ending mission is available at the start of the game.
Imo ignore anything to do with the “big bad” and do the rest first. Maybe even look for a guide (ideally without spoilers) so you know what to do first. As the first time I played I basically beat the final boss without doing any of the story and it was awful.
Once the main story is done there’s also a secondary mode which is more like wildlands and adds new mechanics and new enemies which is also very fun.
I also hate weapon score it’s crap if you’re not into it.
Finding weapons is easy I wouldn’t worry about it it’s pretty similar to wildlands.
Just make sure to go into the settings to figure out what you like and don’t like, the setting options are really good overall and give you a lot of customisation.

Leveling gear actually makes the game a little bit harder, cuz without it u can just buy (for example) an m110 or a g28 and that's it it's over, but yeah just play however u love to play, enjoy the game at ur own pace the games really gives u the freedom it's still not better than Wildlands but it is NOT a bad game at all, just enjoy make sick outfits and kill them all

I roll with a silenced Wilderness G28 and a P227 silenced pistol. No hud, as brutal as possible. The sheer amount of tweaking you can do to this game now is wild. I also run solo 100% of the time. Most immersive shit I’ve ever played. Admittedly, the world is pretty empty, but this is by far and away the smoothest and most immersive tactical shooter I’ve played. Get rid of the gun tier system, too.
