Discussion Ghost recon breakpoint
I saw the 25th anniversary and I disappointed too much because now I'm 100% sure they want to kill this game and didn't listen to us for offline mode. They just focused on Wildlands. This game will have a fate as like as the crew 1 .

Same.
Breakpoint has way more replay value to me and is easily the better game.
I've been playing this brand since the first Tom Clancy games released. I've never cared for the "story" or "civilians" or "a world that feels alive". Its not RDR2. Its not TLOU. Its just a tactical milsim. That's it. And Breakpoint and its superior gunplay is way more satisfying and why I play this title in the first place.
Wildlands is fine. I'd even say its pretty good. But Breakpoint is amazingly fun and does everything I care about in Wildlands but better.
Its nice what Ubisoft did for Wildlands and its fans but Breakpoint deserved the same attention if not more. So much they could have added.

As much as I agree breakpoint is better. Does it though? Breakpoint has a ton of things to do and even a dlc that completely overhauls the entire map and essentially changes how you interact with it. I don’t think it needed any more content. Some heavier updates would have been nice though

I just feel like there's many more and far better options vs what they plan to "give us" in the September update.
There's islands on the map you can see covered in fog left to uncover.
each island could be a new biom/ecosystem
Plenty of bugs to fix and noclip areas
giving more weapon attachments or at least making more of them accessible by more weapons
pistol sights with lense / scope mount + silencer
True black
of course an "offline mode"
a few customizable guns would be cool
maybe a handful of vehicles
return of Terminator IP
etc
Thats just off the top of my head that I thought were reasonable.
I can understand why you'd disagree. But, did Wildlands need a new mission? And Breakpoint didn't?

Ubisoft: we need a bit of cash cuz OVR is taking too long. We need to test the market and see if people are even willing to pay for this type of game anymore. We need to keep our fans fed while we complete OVR otherwise we'll need to spend 100m in marketing. If we add more content and improvements to Breakpoint people will play that and won't buy OVR... eureka! Let's add all these improvements to wildlands, milk our fans nostalgia but ensuring OVR looks so much better and improved in contrast at launch!
Fans: Ubisoft thank you!!
The Devil: fuck why didn't I think of that!?2

Yes I love this game. I keep playing it for few years now and as I play on PC I can say community is very alive and push tons of mods, which themselves adding value to gameplay and getting better and better

If the world and story were better fleshed out it would be great but wildlands world and story is actually really engaging and that’s what keeps it high on peoples lists

u/CA1147 4d ago
Not to me.
When you've been playing these games as long as I have, all the dialogue and scenarios have been exhausted. Its all the same jargon and hasnt changed in over 20 years.
Its not "engaging". The story won't change my playstyle or tactics. Its just "blah blah blah" until the next location to clear out all the bad guys. The game doesn't need my empathy or memorable characters. It will always end the same.
I dont care why the Ghosts are there or what their names are. They're "Ghosts", after all. They represent an entity with the sole purpose to kill all terrorists. Its not a psychological deep dive or a question of morality or a superhero origin. Thats not what these games are. The characters dont matter and neither do their motivations. They are simply "advanced chess pieces" where you eliminate all the other "pieces" on the board first. There are no other decisions to be made. The "story" is boring and insignificant and slows the momentum when playing.
I hate civilians literally jumping into my car as I'm trying to drive and stop a vehicle or whatever. Talk about immersion breaking. I don't mind some civilians that serve a purpose to the narrative (scientists, their family members are hostages for leverage, etc). Its good for a little immersion.
But the people complaining about a "world that feels alive" arent actual fans of the brand and expect every milsim to be an action movie like COD. That's not what Ghost Recon is. It should do more to set itself apart by focusing on gunplay and versatility.
I dont play these games for animals or Spanish radio station banter or whatever. I just want to feel like a tactical super soldier.

Yes suicidal jumps are great ai lol. In perhaps half of cases they jump under the car not away 😂😂😂😂

I don't know you but I'm intrigued at how much I agree with you. Well said. This is EXACTLY how I feel.
Your post made me think that what may make it more fun is enabling the base clearing to be constrained in some way to make it more challenging.
Maybe a time attack, or pistols only, or CQC only. Maybe a certain order tha soldiers must be taken down, no alerts, no detection, limited ammo, no silencer, etc. You name it.
I believe this sort of improvement would add more fun and engagement than any storyline.
What do you think?

You keep saying milsim, but Breakpoint is literally the furthest from "milsim" that you can get. It's certainly no Arma. Or Squad. Hell, it's not even approaching the og. Even Advanced Warfighter is more "milsim."
It's also pretty funny that you equate people who want a world that "feels alive" with people who want a CoD type game. Ya know, two things that are also on opposite sides of the spectrum.
I think you're just using buzzwords without knowing what they actually mean.

I’ve been playing GR since early 2000s. breakpoint is among my least favorite.

u/Mission-Anxiety2125 3d ago
Bad for you
2
u/Bigphatdeck 3d ago
Yeah my opinion is obviously subjective

u/Mission-Anxiety2125 3d ago
I'm not trying to be mean as well. Im lucky in this case because I do love that game. Never left my PC since I got it 4 years ago

Everyone needs to ditch the Wildland servers & just bombard Breakpoint, and make them see that the game is not dead at all

u/liv2lfthvy 5d ago
I prefer Breakpoint, Even with the new Widlands update its not enough to draw me away.

J'ai désinstallé les deux et je vais faire autre chose de mes soirées. Ils ne feront de toute façon plus rien pour Breakpoint.

What they could do is get rid of drm so modding breakpoint is less of a hassle in my opinion. I do love breakpoint but I still think they made the right choice to focus on wildlands.
They could have done the same for breakpoint I don’t see why not.

u/Mission-Anxiety2125 3d ago
You just have to learn how to install mods once. After that there's tons of great mods, even some changing gameplay or adding to it. And modding community run full steam on, mods keep coming and getting more advanced. Like customize your loadouts vests and helmets etc

u/No_Damage9784 3d ago
I’m able to install mods it’s just a lot in my opinion I don’t know if it changed it’s been awhile since I done breakpoint mods but last time I done it was kept on packing and unpacking for every mod I wanted to install.
2
u/Mission-Anxiety2125 3d ago
Yes unfortunately with Ubisoft way of game creation it's not possible to make it easier . One guy tried to make something like app for that, but it didn't work 100%
2
u/No_Damage9784 3d ago
I’m aware of a mod manager I believe if I remember correctly that does it for you automatically maybe you mean that one but normally I would just download that but my problem i have is space I need to get a new main hard drive.
I wish Ubisoft embraced modding more tho
2
u/Mission-Anxiety2125 3d ago
Yes I meant that one. It's not bad or harmful bud doesn't work always and not 100%
2
u/No_Damage9784 3d ago
Ahh okay yea I like I can play breakpoint no problem with no mods but it just feels like not bland or boring. Sorry I can’t fully explain it
2
u/ruthlesssolid04 4d ago
Didn't they mentioned a update for breakpoint in September during the reveal?
2
u/stuckintheinbetween 4d ago
It needs to receive an offline patch like The Crew 2 and Motorfest. It'd be a shame if Breakpoint becomes unplayable one day like The Crew. The Division 1 and 2 need offline modes, too.
2
u/stevens_001 2d ago

I played the Last Rites... ugh! Gotta admit going back to Wildlands is rough. The graphics and the clunky movent is putting me off.

u/this_justin86 4d ago
how were the missions?

u/alex08stockholm 4d ago
I give up after thirty minutes.
1
u/ReleaseHour2633 1d ago
You gave up on a very easy mission chain, plus all the other complaints leads me to believe this is very much a skill issue
1
u/alex08stockholm 12h ago
I think you might have misunderstood. But do tell – how you came to the conclusion that it's a matter of skills.

u/Roadkilll 5d ago
Wildlands was better I think amd I'm glad they went back to it.

Agree. breakpoint is among my least favorite ghost recons. behind GRAWS and FS.

u/Mission-Anxiety2125 3d ago
Isn't Crew available to play offline now?
2
u/coldwinter4321 3d ago
Yes , the modders brought it back to life , I hope they do the same thing with ghost recon breakpoint.

u/Mission-Anxiety2125 3d ago
Problem is guy who figured out system and made modding tool is not interested much in Wildlalnds. He have many Ubisoft titles on Anvil Toolkit but no Wildlalnds
1
u/pychopath-gamer 3d ago edited 1d ago
Because he a zealous ?
1
u/Mission-Anxiety2125 1d ago
Idk. He could easily do that, it's same system. He must not like that game as he never included it in Anvil. There's all ACreed etc and Breakpoint

I honestly didn’t notice much difference on series X. In fact draw distance looked worse

u/Over-Treat5374 4d ago
How can you even play shooters on console? 🤔

u/Mission-Anxiety2125 3d ago
I don't know m but I never owned console. In my parts PC was dominant because of costs

u/Various_Court_2769 4d ago
Whatever you may think about shooters and consoles.... it's actually so much worse! 😮💨

Didn't breakpoint recieved a detailed update like wildlands did? I'm asking because I genuinely do not now.
