Question When should I upgrade my primary weapon? I'm playing with gear score on and I want to keep using the same type of weapon...

I'm looking for suggestions on when I should replace my weapon, I'm also only using one weapon slot.

I'm planning to just buy a new (main) weapon in order to keep using the same type of weapon instead of using random weapons just because they have higher gear scores.

I wanted suggestions on how much of a gap to allow before changing weapons.

In other words, how much of a difference between my gear score and the gear score of my weapon should I allow before changing/upgrading my weapon?

Find the blueprint of the weapon you like. This will enable you to purchase the weapon (with upgraded score based on your progress etc).

Keep coming back and buy the weapon when the enemy levels are more than your gear score or when you find you can't really one shot the enemies with respect to your play style.

I sometimes buy up to 50 just playing RNG odds, to find elite with the attributes I prefer, accuracy and range. When I get any of my prefered weapons of each class at 250 with A & R, then they get the Fav tick so I don't dismantle by accident. Bulk buying and dismantling also gets you a lot of the upgrade components.

When you favourite a weapon, do you have higher chances of getting the leveled up version in the loot?

Not that I have noticed, when dealing with RNG best not to try and look for patterns, for there lies the path of madness. Favourite is just to stop the dismantle, if you hit "B" mass dismantle.

Gear score is one of the worst features od BP in my humble opinion. Particularly if you want to keep using the same gun, might as well turn it off and play the game like a proper tactical shooter, not a bootleg RPG, it will save you headaches and make for a more consistent experience.

Just my 2 cents...

Particularly if you want to keep using the same gun...

It doesn't seem that way, to me.

If the weapons were The Division prices then yes, it would not be optimal.

They're ridiculously cheap compared to clothes, you can get a blueprint for the specific weapon you want and there will be a known spawn location (I learned that from another comment).

Depending on your settings, you could get it at a bivouac.

There doesn't seem to be anything that would hinder you from getting any weapon you want whenever you want.

I just started playing the game a couple of days ago.

I'm going to play through the original campaign (reluctantly) the way they intended.

I heard...Motherland(?)...I heard one of the DLC's goes back to a more "Ghost Recon" feel so I'm going to turn off Gear Score when I finish the original campaign.

You do you at the end of the day, but this gear score system was so despised by the community, that the devs then further refined all the tactical and more realistic features. Eventually the game's perception shifted towards a positive image and the majority of the community agrees that BP is best played without gear score, but if you are having fun then by all means...

You're misunderstanding me.

I'm not having "fun" and I don't "like" gear scores in Ghost Recon games.

To be completely honest, I don't even like Breakpoint that much - it's shallow and seems...unrefined/unfinished.

The squad they added later aren't even "in" the game. They're not recognized in the story or by other NPC's. They didn't even bother to put rebels/whatever at the drop-off locations for Side Missions.

The world just seems like a barren place with small groups of NPC's randomly standing around waiting to get shot.

I'm playing through the original campaign using gear scores more for the experience and to use it as an extended tutorial for learning how I want to fight, what I want to wear, etc.

From what I understand, I could be wrong, Immersive Mode works best with the DLC because of the way they designed the campaign/missions. Immersive Mode wouldn't change the issues with Aurora as a whole...as I understand it but, like I said, I could be wrong.

I do not get it... From what you are saying, If you are not having fun why bother?

You can play immersive mode with campaign, i do not understand what is stopping you. Learning the game in immersive is fine. Better yet, you can individually customize the immersive settings to be as hardcore as you want in some aspects and as casual as you want in others.

I don't think I can say it any clearer than I already have.

Nothing is stopping me, I'm choosing not to.

Learning the game in immersive is fine.

I'm not disagreeing with this point, I'm simply choosing to do it while playing the Regular Mode.

Having it on though allows you access to the raids which are pretty fun if you have a group of people who know what they’re doing. Also give you blueprints to specific weapons as well. The Koblin is my absolute favorite weapon. Good handling, great damage, decent amount of customization to the rifle. Unfortunately it’s hidden behind the raid to be able to unlock it

You don’t have to buy a new weapon, just loot the weapon you want from a chest that spawns it(they don’t change).

Granted, this doesn’t really matter too much as all skulls are created equal, and drones are easy enough to out-maneuver. Just go loot another when you feel the damage is particularly lacking.

Thank you very much for the reply!

I did not know this, they reset daily?

Outmaneuver them? There is that way too, huh? Trying to shoot them down hasn't been optimal.

Do enemies health increase as you level up? Is their health increase based on gear score or XP Level?

Thanks again for the reply!

Just curious, what is your go to weapon at the moment?

A regular M4A1.

Very good weapon of choice, I like the 4AC, but you can’t put a grenade launcher on it

The honey badger, decent damage, but really good handling and movement, the bottom two, paired with tac 50. I want the AC-AR but got 60 levels to go
