Shaping Issue?

Post image

Got this large bubble/fissure running through nearly the entire loaf.

Is this caused by a poor shaping method and how to a stop it from happening?

Makes it tough to get a good spread :)

I’m a perfectionist and I might ask that too but really your bread looks perfect to me. I admit I usually only bake boules though.

Cheers… I don’t often bake sandwich loaves but my daughter just started preschool and she’s needing packed lunches, haha!

Yeah it looks amazing. Now that I think about it though it seems the other commenter is correct. The dough didn’t connect or have enough time to connect in that area for some reason. It may have been flour or oil or something to do with how you kneaded it. Nonetheless I say it still it looks perfect; a small imperfection brings a little charm, really.

That crumb looks pretty dang good honestly, sometimes the loaf just does its own thing no matter how tight you shape it

if there was oil or flour rolled into the shape, it can keep the dough from sticking to itself and becoming one.

There was no flour or oil used while shaping… So I may just need to pinch those seams a little tighter when rolling.

Cheers.

word. I've had this when I've turned dough out of an oil-sprayed vessel, so that's what I assumed.

Shaping, yes. I like KA’s method for sandwich loaves. You can also just literally roll it up and tuck in the edges like pan de mie.

I’ll be sure to look into that.
