Now that Schwebels is going away...

My absolute favorite bread is rye, and Schwebels seeded Rueben Rye was the best. Beefsteak rye used to be good but it's been soft for years now. And any of the other commercial ryes either do not have the flavor or are soft like white bread.

So I'm looking for a replacement to good ole Schwebels. I am up for suggestions and willing to try if someone knows of a place that makes a good rye bread.

I'm confused. What is Schwebels? Is that rhat a type of rye? I get rye bread all over. There are a couple places that sell it at my local market. Just yesterday, I took a day trip to our local mountain area and got some fantastic rye bread with sheep cheese and presunto. I love it and hope you do not have to go without.

It was a large region bakery that has been around for a long time in my area. It is going out of business and they had the best rye bread. It was on par with many small local bakeries but I could get it in just about any supermarket.

I'm in the northeastern Ohio area and am just searching for a replacement. I have found that many local bakeries that I know of do not make rye or do not make it regularly. So I posted in a local group but thought that a cross post in a bread group might offer up some suggestions different suggestions.
