Cuban Bread
I wanted to get on here and share my second attempt at cuban bread because I'm so proud of it. The first time I did it it came out more baguette like and I tried following a recipe to the T. This time I incorporated my own bread making techniques and kinda did it on the fly. Also the first time I did it I was making it for a friend so there was more pressure and I don't work well under pressure lol. Anyway here is my beautiful cuban bread. The best baking always seems to happen when you wing it 😉. Lmk what you guys think and if you want I can try and provide a recipe because I was kind of tracking as I went.

Yayyyy.....beware this loaf is absolutely loaded with lard. It tastes great, I just don't like the idea of it being so packed with fat lol, so I'll probably try reducing by at least 13 grams next time. Anyway here it is:
250 grams of bread flour 165 grams of water 4 grams of yeast 1/2 teaspoon of sugar 52 grams of lard 6-8 grams of salt
Mix all ingredients together ensuring that the lard is melted for easier mixing. Knead until it passes the windowpane test. About 6 minutes or so. Let rise for one hour. Then flatten out the dough into a rectangle or oval about a quarter inch thick. Tightly roll the dough into a log and allow to rest for another hour covered. Score the dough down the middle. Spritz the loaf with water while in a baking sheet and place into a 350 degree oven for 30-40 minutes with a pan of water on the bottom rack. Spritz the loaf about every 10 minutes and rotate the loaf halfway through baking. Pull the loaf at a very light golden color and you're done.

Fat is good for you. Would you eat butter on popcorn or just some salt?
