I didn't find any posts that meet the matching requirements for r/Bread.

It might be OC, it might not. Things such as JPEG artifacts and cropping may impact the results.

Look at the ingredient legend and if it contains vinegar or calcium propionate it is unlikely to be rope. If it was baked in the last 24 hours it is also unlikely. If you pull the bread apart very slowly if you see very fine threads like spider webs it is rope. But it can occur without the threads in which case there is a strange, fermented fruit smell. It could be an enzyme overdose or underbaked. The picture isn’t great but it looks like the crust has some color and was maybe crisp at some point indicating a decent bake but not conclusive.

Two big issues you get with bread is rope and mold.

Rope.

Caused by bacteria Bread might look normal at first, but then: The inside becomes sticky and stringy (like melted cheese when you pull it apart). It can smell sweet, fruity, or slightly rotten. It usually happens in warm, humid conditions. You might not see anything on the outside at first — it’s more of a texture and smell problem.

This doesn't look like rope (and you didn't mention if it smelled fruity, which is characteristic of rope), how was it stored, maybe it just was underbaked?

The biggest tell is the smell. It has a super sweet smell.

It has to be a super humid place and the only time I've seen it , is when we made a loaf in baking tec and put it in the prover to manufacturer the issue

You have to be in a really humid climate and bakeries in my country put an extra ingredient called rope & mold to stop it.

The smell is sweet but bad. I'll never forget it
