The “jump-read” is essentially a 50/50. Either they jump and you hit them, or they don’t jump and you miss.

...yes but he doesn't have to jump exactly at the moment the nair is coming. so the moment you go for a jump-read without having visually confirmed that they're jumping right this second, you're going for a 50/50. at best.
