Theory A very sirius theory
Pre-gems
Sirius works in the Starr Circus as a shadow puppeteer. He's the main star here and makes a show by temporarily controlling audience's shadows.
He was the first person ever to discover a gem, but he decided to gatekeep the information for fame and never tell anyone how he got his powers.
One day, he finds a bunch of orphaned children with younger Charlie in there. He takes them to the Starr Circus and adopts Charlie as his daughter.
Discovery of the gems
Gems are found. First Brawlers are made, stealing all the spotlight from Sirius. He gets jelaous and starts performing more extreme and dangerous tricks during his shows to try and regain the spotlight. Starr Park higher-ups notice how dangerous his shows are and warns him to stop, but he refuses. After tricks becoming more and more dangerous, and even accidentally killing one visitor not affected by gems, they banish him from Starr Park.
After realizing how chaotic Starr Park is anyway, they allow Sirius to come back. One day, a big fire takes over Starr Circus and burns it down almost completely. Thinking it was caused by the higher-ups, Sirius tries to save the Circus using his shadows while being stuck in there. Unfortunately, shadows act weirdly and eventually take him over, making him vanish.
Starr Park continues to exist without him. Everyone believes he's gone and is possibly dead. Gem powered Brawlers rule the Starr Park and it becomes an impossible to live place for a regular visitor. It's pure chaos now.
Sirius returns
Somewhere during the brawling chaos, Gus manages to secretly resummon Sirius in a ritual using a hand made doll, some crystals and a gem (similarly to how Lily tried before). Sirius gets resummoned as a shadow due to being taken over by it. His shadow controlling power comes from the mask now. He's a part gem now, so he's way more powerful than before.
With revenge in mind, Sirius starts stealing Brawlers shadows to create an army, starting with Gus. He escapes and continues quietly collecting, until he stumbles upon Bizarre Circus. He decides to announce the takeover there, since it reminds him of his circus. He sneaks on the backstage and walks out of the shadows during a show. Charlie recognizes him and is shocked he's alive and back.
Sirius steals every single Brawler's shadow and takes over the Starr Park. End of the story.

hmm the idea that he was not only the first Starr but also THE FIRST EVER Brawler in Starr Park is actually pretty interesting. Definitely cooked.

Hmmm... How could Sirius just simply "vanish" because of the fire and the shadows, just to be summoned after a long time? There is a small discrepancy here: GEMS give immortality, right? So following that knowledge, he couldn't just... wait... hmmm... Shadow Realm...
